Exact Diff ratio?

Post by GURU »

G'day

I'm just interested to know if a Hilux 4.7 diff ratio is exactly 4.7 or if it is something like 4.764.

If it's 4.7 exactly is it 10 teeth pinion and 47 teeth crownwheel ?

As I am thinking of using it in my project.

id say it would be an uneven number so that it wears evenly and doesnt upset the harmonics

The diff commonly known as 4.88 is actually 4.875. 8 teeth on the pinion and 39 on the crown.
