Heavy duty clutch noise

A friend had a heavy duty clutch fitted to his 80 series last weekend, the shop said the rubbing noise is bacause they don't have asbestos in them anymore... they also said whenever it clicks while idleing at the lights, just lift the revs to about 1800rpm and it'll go away...

He is unhappy with it and I thought I'd ask here if what he is hearing is normal?

is the rubbing noise all the time or just on engagement? either way, it should be as silent or better than the original. Was the flywheel re-ground when the clutch was replaced? if the rub noise is like 'scuff scuff scuff' as the clutch engages, roughly in time with engine RPM, it is possible the driven plate was damaged by 'hanging' the gearbox off it when the gearbox was reinstalled.

clicking at idle sounds like they have damaged the release bearing when installing it - I would get an expert (maybe NRMA/RACQ? alternative transmission shop?) to have a listen and go back to the installer armed with some facts.

Go to a gearbox shop don't stuff around with racq from what dealings i've heard about them there over glorified jump starters
