1999 navara 3.0 ltr turbo diesel queries ?
ok just wondering if the 3.0 litre turbo diesel navaras (1999) had the same engine problems as the 3.0 litre turbo patrol and what other problems if any . Also how much drama to lift opposed to the equivilent hilux..,.. any info would be great..
3.0 or 3.2 ?
i didn't think navaras came out with the 3 litre turbo motor back then. i might well be wrong.
if it is the ZD30 motor then its yes and no. the early ones had oil gallery problems which caused the spay jets cooling the pistons to block up, which meant the pistons could over heat and fail.
what made it bad on the patrols was the variable turbo is run by oil pressure, lack of oil pressure caused the boost to go high, very high. which of course helped heat the hell out of the pistons. however the navara runs a different turbo and doesn't suffer that part of the problem.
