m8 ..you have algai in your tank....if you switch to the other tank, it should run ok...there is a screen on the pickup in the tank, it blocks with this shit growing all over it, and the primer sucks down.....friend blew compressed air back through it, and blew the screen off the pipe....not recommended....you will have to buy nissan fuel treatment with anti algai and change your filters regularly after that...once you have cleaned the crap off....
Your prob may be as above but it is pretty common for your fuel filter primer thingo to suck in air which will cause it to stall especially on rough roads. Try priming it. To fix is a new one.

This would not cause the primer to suck down...only vacuum in the fuel line will do that. The other thing to note is the original problem, which was the filter becoming holed....how does that happen??? More info Scott....4WD Stuff wrote:Your prob may be as above but it is pretty common for your fuel filter primer thingo to suck in air which will cause it to stall especially on rough roads. i have the same problem in my 2H, vehicle will losw power randomly.
happens more frequently when tank is low, but also happens on a full tank.
Cant be getting air in the system as that would mean it would stall and I would have to bleed it to get it going again. (inline pump) Rather, it just loses power for anywhere between 3 seconds and 10 seconds, and then goes again.
Im thinking its a fuel supply problem, have changed filter and checked the primary filter on the inlet to the lift pump.
Lift pump has a new plunger and valves, but i havent done the insides of the lift pump yet, although i do have the parts to do so.

This happened to a mates 91 hdt...he ended up running on the sub and filled the main tank with water and bleach to kill the algai....worked a treat, but you really really have to be careful doing it that way....ie flush with diesel a few times afterwards...scottmcguinness172 wrote:hey i switched to my sub tank today and it doesnt appear to be playing up as yet so i bought some diesel power diesel addative to try but ill see what happens
The filter in the tank is easy to get to, you remove secnd row seats, pull back carpet, and get into the tank through the hole in the floor
Andrew
is it that easy in a HJ60 aswell?>dow50r wrote:This happened to a mates 91 hdt...he ended up running on the sub and filled the main tank with water and bleach to kill the algai....worked a treat, but you really really have to be careful doing it that way....ie flush with diesel a few times afterwards...scottmcguinness172 wrote:hey i switched to my sub tank today and it doesnt appear to be playing up as yet so i bought some diesel power diesel addative to try but ill see what happens

Cav
Yep cav filters are nice and cheap however they do clog easy so carry a couple of spares with you at all times.
Does anyone know who sells the original CAV filter cartridges, I did not like the Repco and ryco ones.
