No but I would like to, looks like it would march pretty hard! Interesting to see that they're running two Albright Solenoids, ONE for each motor!
All it needs is an air free spool.....

Gigglepin Twin Winch
Anyone interested in one of the Gigglepin twin winch setups or other Gigglepin accessories drop me a line, I am the Australian distributor. The new winch gearbox tops are going to be released in early 2007 with a complete new top housing. We have stopped making the adaptor plates onto the existing gearbox top due to issues with the strength of the small gear in the top housing.
I also sell the replacement, unbreakable brake shafts, as an upgrade to your exisiting 8274, if you have ever broken one you know what a hassle it is.
When building the twin motor winch's we always upgrade the brake shaft to handle the extra torque.

Re: Gigglepin Twin Winch
any reason why two gearboxes are not used and single motor on each because then you would have two brake shafts?Smithy jnr wrote:Anyone interested in one of the Gigglepin twin winch setups or other Gigglepin accessories drop me a line, I am the Australian distributor. Dual winch
The twin gearbox setup works well, but I know one of the teams in QLD using this setup is still braking brake shafts. The twin gearbox & twin motor setup gets very bulky and heavy, and you don t get the advantage of both motors driving the one gearbox for flat-out line speed, as you still have to drive both motors through there own gearboxs.
The other reason I prefer the twin motors, is we setup a freespool setup arrangement on the other end of the drum, which obviously you can t do with two gearboxs.

Re: Dual winch
so the free spool disconnects the drum completly from the gearbox?Smithy jnr wrote:The twin gearbox setup works well, but I know one of the teams in QLD using this setup is still braking brake shafts. winch
Yes, the drum freespools independantly of the gearbox.
This should work....

dual motor
You need to run two similarly matched motors, no problem if one is used. If you run different motors, the slower of the two will transfer load to the faster and fight it. Ether run 2x 6hp or 2x 4.6hp.
