welded rear diff

Post by offroad_always »

im thinking of buying a sierra, it has a welded rear diff.

i do mostly road and beach work and go to lcmp a couple of times a year.
i dont think i really need a locker. how driveable is a welded rear on the road.

cheers tim

A welded rear is easy to drive, but a bit dodgey in the wet.
If you drive it every day, or do a lot of road driving you will need a locker or open rear diff.
Also QT are a little anal about locked rear diffs

i have a locked rear and its great. nothing makes a zook feel like a 900 horse power donut machine like a locker. seriously, drive it round, some people like it some dont. i run my tires real hard on the road, it makes it a lot smoother and takes away the chirp- my rego man hasnt picked it up yet. they can be a little anal to drive, depends on the car, i dont notice mine is there, even in the rain- unless the i stab the clutch  . respect the car and youll be fine.
