i just done a spring over on my 89 widetrack just wanting to know of any tricks setting up the steering????

... or apparently you can use a drag link from a SJ80 (coily) Sierra and the steering link adapter off a 126 (very common model from the 1980's) Mercedes, which then bolts on to your lower strut where the brake caliper is.

I don't have a link off the top of my head, but I'm sure its been covered in the Sierra bible.

Or get snake racing High Steer, I found it to be the best way in the end as part of getting engineered and rego.

I added in a extra bit of block to the passenger bump stop just as a precaution but so far it is so much better to drive and I had power steering to start with and it is now so much better
