vitara front diff lock
vitara front diff lock
hey im just tossing up whether to put in a front diff lock in my vitara, i hear they blow cv's is this true? i would have thought they would have strenghend them becuase they are both turning at the same time??? any help would be appreciated

80 series landcruiser and a suzuki 413 :)
I like my front diff lock, it helps to make up for the IFS. Mine is an ARB and it's mated to an auto which helps IMHO. Then again I have run it in a manual and had no issues. It doesn't get a lot of use but when it does it's nice to have.

If a wheel in the air is spinning, then drops to earth, the sudden traction can be hard on cv and axles. This is prevented by a front diff lock.
The better traction avoids other mishaps, too.
But if you turn hard under heaps of right boot, the strain on front end will be worse when locked.
Drive it with respect to its weaknesses.
My opinion is you be better off with a locker 99% of the time

Yes, but thats just my opinion, mroffroader wrote:so you rekon its better in the front with one??? less chance of breaking cv's?
I'm sure many will disagree.
If you disrespect it with front locked, it will bite you.
I do belive an air locker be better than an auto locker for a vit.
Having a weakness up front, you don't want it locking and unlocking wildly like an auto locker does.
Again just my opinion,
there is no "right" answer.
