rav 4 new headunit... no park lights? any auto sparky about?

ok well just installed a new head unit for my mates misses and now.. nothing comes on like no dash tail or park lights come on wen u slect the park position on the indercator lever

but the headlights and break lights work as normal...

wtf.....

how can the radio have anything to do with that???

i have cheaked all the fuzes with a multimeter and there all fine...

i got no idear were to start looking?

was there a dimmer wire on the radio? coze that should be hooked to the dash lights.

UH OH, here comes the fire extinguisher.

Try wiring it in a new loom insted of using the factory one. Run a new battery lead and run a new wire from the acc some where, and grab a wire for the lights near the switch or from the head light loom.

That'll fix it . cant explain it , but have had it b4 and thats how a sparky mate fixed it on my 1979 carolla

rather than rewiring it completely, try the negative first. If you have picked up a negative from the loom take it off and earth it to a metal part of the frame, if that fails im lost.

The exact same thing happend to me when i hooked up a head unit in my g/f lancer.

I assumed a wire i found was earth but it was actually for the parkers and dimmer. When i turned the head unit on it would blow the fuse.

Do what mickyd555 said and just earth it to metal frame or something in there.
