how long is a piece of string?
lots of variables, but a 5 link will always outflex a stock GQ.

the 6 inch with 4 link but why would you want body lift ,6 inch springs will clear 35s with heaps to spare on coil cab and it would look stupid

the guy asked a question........ try answering it, or keep your opinions to yourself. I have 6" coils and 2" body on 38" tyres..... you must hate me too.mudmav wrote:good luck with your 23 inch lift, what a tool who needs a 9 inch lift 3 and 2 with lockers is all you need mate.

to answer your question..... once you go over 4" with a body lift, 35's will look small. miles of clearance, but looks odd. The 35" wranglers i had on mine looked out of place with 6" springs and 2" body. Looks better with the 38" creepys on it.
4+2 on 35's will work ok off road depends on how much you want to spend.

But then again 6" and 2" bl with 38s would look sweet to.
Looking at second photo, there looks like miles of room in the guards....adam penfold wrote:does this look odd 2 any 1. check the link out

I got 6" spring lift, no body lift and 35's on my GQ and it looks just right, very nicely proportioned.
The rear of the front and rear guards are gonna get a bit of a chop though for better clearance when it flex's.
A 4x2 lift would look the same just less spring travel.
I agree with Patrolden, the guy is just asking for advice not to be called a tool etc.
linx_nt if you are going over 3-4" spring lift be prepared to double your costs because you are gonna need quite a few other mods too so it rides and flexes properly.

ok point taken sorry if i offeneded anyone im sorry. heres my point though i have seen 38 inch tyres run on a 3 inch spring and 2 inch body lift. Yes the guards were chopped and the wheels had a decent amount of offset on them but this thing had mad flex and virtually no scrubbing. So i suppose what im getting at is why not go 3 and 2 with a guard chop, not only will it be cheaper than a massive spring lift. it will be more stabel on a side slope and you will attract a whole lot less police and state traffic authority interest. before i get flamed i make mention of side slope stability as i drive a gu regularly that has 5 and 2 and 36 inch pedes and its not a good feeling driving anything with a side slope or thats off camber. Ok now ive apologised and made my point properly feel free to flame me and i was messing around when i called the guy a tool.

I would go 4-6 inch spring lift only no body lift ,this would give plenty of tyre and ground clearance depending on what your using it for i have 6inch springs+25mm spacers and still get plenty of rock rash on the chassis and x members and bent sliders otherwise i would go down to 4inch

complete wank factor more like it...linx_nt wrote:bigger tyres , more flex? looks way mader lol
Why would you want car that looks massive but handles like shit, rolls over all the time all the money your going to waste on that suspension setup would be better off spent on lockers and a small lift.

just go a straight 6 i recon. especially on a ute .............. no rear gaurds to clear. just gotta trim gaurds or space diff forward
then spend the rest on lockers.
if you are going to do it tho spend the coin to do it right.
otherwise go 4 and 2 alot less hassles to make it handle right

Well I'm taking My 3" lift out and going back to 2"(+2"). I would hate to be in anything with more than 4". Taking into account that mine has twin shocks etc etc. At the same time as lowering it I'm fitting 37x12.5 so I really don't see any benefit in being higher. All the guys I know who are serious about driving are going no higher than 4"+2".
As has been said stay at 4 and save the extra money for lockers, as ultimately that will give you a far more capable truck, aand as a bonus it will look like a serious truck not a toy!
