G'day
Father in Laws GU (Goddamn Useless) has a probable dead fuel pump (ZD30) at least thats what his mechanic mate says...
You turn on the ignition and it sounds like a relay clicking in and out from a short., and the ignition lights on the dash flick on and off, which sounds like a short to me, but then again I'm strickly a toyota/Chev backyard mechanic I know nuthin about diesels....
Does anyone have any ideas?? or info on where to get a cheap pump,(He's gunna sell it ASAP after its running)
Any help much appreciated
Thanx
Jarrod

GU Needs help..Strange problems!
Almost sounds like a battery issue, but if you say it's injector pump, be warned they are not cheap! Typical Bosch unit in that it's fantastic German engineering, but need a clean room (ie. hair nets and paper overalls) to service them! Mine was done by West End Diesel about 12 months ago, they are apparently one of only a couple of places in Australia that can rebuild/overhaul them. Call them, they should be able to confirm for you if the relay clicking is an indicator or not.
Mine was indicated by the engine check light... get the code (0701 through 0707 and 1004) are injector pump faults. The ECU will keep a record of any faults, even if you reset the ignition etc, it's not wiped from the confuzer until commanded to by operator (Nissan servicing dept or shorting terminals under dash).
Good luck.

2000 GU II, 6.5L Chev Diesel (ex ZD30), lift, bar+winch, rear bar, drawers, fuel tanks I need a personal loan to fill... most of the regular touring gear.
