Line Lock Parking Brake

Anyone experimented with using a brake line locking kit for a hand brake? As shown in this link:

I've only experienced them on stuff like aircfaft loading platforms. They worked well holding up to 15 tonnes on slight inclines, so should be real good for a lightweight fourby. Very popular in the US about 10 years ago.

I think PBR do a kit. Don't forget any brake lines must be double flared when fitting

Note: This kit is not designed as a parking brake, and can damage its solenoids if left on too long. It is designed for short (couple of minutes is fine) uses only, and you should stay with the vehicle when it's in use.

Also are line lockers leagal??

No, they're probably not legal. But I bet they'd work well. If the guideline of only a couple of mins was kept I shouldn't imagine any damage would be caused. This is about the max that it would take for the driver to exit the car, check the terrain (when you don't trust your spotter), get back in and continue driving. And it would save trying to juggle the brake, clutch and accelerator with only two feet when trying to restart on a steep hill.

I've been looking around for some local ones for a while. The ones I've seen in action work great especially on the light cars like zuks. Drag racing uses them and I found a place in Sydney that sells them but lost the address. So if anyone knows where you can get them locally Melbourne

Grimbo the place in Sydney would prob be Rocket Industries.
If it was me the only reason i would use one of these would be for holding the rig on a hill while you load the drive train up to take off.There is no way while on a hill i would rely on my wheel cylinders or caliper seals to hold the rig while i was out of it. If it blew a flexy line you would have no way of stopping it if you were out of the vehicle.

While you are here any idea what size exhast i should run or what tyres i should run or which end should i fit a diff lock too or should i sell my 4runner and buy a rig allready built or just build this one and listen to nobodies sugestions?

I'm just looking for that added holding on a hill when restarting. If you've ever tried to take off with a Suzuki handbrake you'd know what I mean.

No I haven't tried the Suzuki hand brake but I'm sure it can't be much worse then a hilux.

Line locks are great for burnouts, but, are not legally fitted on street rego'ed vehicles in NSW..........

suziworx makes one just as good for cheaper..hehe,guess as long as i have a tcase output/rear housing i can make em for anything..
