Holden Rodeo Rear Springs

Has anyone looked at these closely - i meausered up these springs today they look as if they would go in to the stock shackle and have a fair arch from stock

i was thinking of putting the 4wd version of the rodeo springs in the front what do you think?

I have heard of someone using the rodao springs but cant remember who or which end they used them in but if the centre pin is in the right place then it should work.

Not exactly sure, but i think they are the same as the mazdas.


Why dont you put your 82's up front and buy adrains explores for the back, it would work out cheap and work well.

Bubs,
There was a guy around Beenleigh that used the Rodeo springs up front. He is one of Tony's mates. It is a black lux now with a aluminium tray.
Tony was saying that he used it mostly for mud. Springs were a thick pack, maybe 5-6 springs.
Anyway, you could add take out as you wish.
I know now he is running parabolics all round, so he might have the Rodeo springs laying around at home

Yeah that was Johno but he was only using a few leaves from a rodeo not the whole pack.

we run standard hilux rears in the front of a 4runner and have no problems with it on the street. Its running 1 extta leaf cut one.
travel is great , Rancho 9012 are used and pushed to their full limits
they are limiting the travel

the qestion about rears to overkill . I am running mid 1980s in the front of my 4runner standard 1st, 2nd. 3rd. 4th, leafs & a nother 4th leaf cut down appox same stagger as the others for a 5th leaf . this has handeled the weight of the deisel motor & arb bar

Dave,
How far forward did the front diff move??? I am puting IFS rear springs in the back, but am undecided on what to do with the front??? How much lift and how long are the shackles that you have on the front???

front went about 3 inches
spring hanger moved forward 1 inch & dropped 2 inches
2 inch from the spring
shackels are 2 inch extended all round
custom shock hoops for the 14 inch shocks
lift is how kows about 3-4 inches i gess.

iam running mazda springs in rear with about 2 inches of packers to leavel the truck out. the mazda spring i have dont seem to be any longer than standard hilux. i can not seem to find the 52 inch long springs anyone know what year modle there out of.

The standard springs you pulled out are probably the same ones as in IFS runners and dual cabs and are longer than most hilux rears anyway??

the mazda's are from a 97+ bravo 2wd, ask NICK as he know more but i think he runs a 2" longer shackle and has added 2 lux rear leafs a removd the overload from the mazda spring. (the 2wd mazda are 3 leafs with overload standard)

the springs that came out were ultimate suspenion 2inch lifted
i have some late modle lux spring that are much longer but only run 3 leafs that are quite thick. from memory front half of spring is the same lenght rear haff is a couple inches longer than early modle my big prob is that after taking 14 in out of the rear the springs all ready hang out backlate modle would be worse. i need more lenght in front half

The late model IFS rear springs are 3inches longer than the stock solid axle springs and are 1.5" longer each end so when bolted in the stock location the diff is moved back 1.5". i run the main and military leaf from these and then 4 more stock early leafs under them and they flex well.

Is anyone here using Snake weld on mounts on the back?? I f so, what did you do when the diff was moved backwards, as the upper and lower shock mounts wouldnt line up??? This would put undue stress on the shock, especially on upward travel......

think you would need to mount both shocks in front of the axle, if the original cross member is too far foward u might need to put in a new cross member.

Is it possible to use the stock steering setup once the diff has moved forward from using rears in the front.

it is possible, u need an adjustable draglink but with the flex u gain from the rears up front it will just bind up anyway i think

i tried everythind 2 start wif dropped drag link, then flipped ball with standard draglink then flipped ball with dropped draglink and kept bendin and breakin it so i went snake racin crossover hysteer

cool :D pricey though, but it seems that thats what has to be done to have good flex on a hilux and still be able to steer
