buying a gu 3Lt

Post by mav »

how do you tell the difference between a small sump and the later large sump (revised motor) 3.0lt turbo diesel gu, a friend is going to buy an early one and needs to be able to spot the ones that have had the motor replaced.

the early ones got the oil dipstick change, there is no difference externally that is easy to see...

the newer motors came with a B turbo and the 1st series had a A, this is onthe turbo casing cast into it with the turbo model number.

if its a 2000 build its on borrowed time, i know of 1 2001 motor going too

Another tip, don't buy a ZD30 patrol is it has:

red tail light lenses (Series II, = Prone to failing motor)

Also Any with steel wheels are early models.

Go as Late Model as you can.
