looking at TD 4.2

hey guys looking at a 4.2 TD nissan patrol wagon round 1998-1999 models ST with about 200km on them, just wanting to know what sorta common things to look out for wheninspecting things and what sort of things shoul dhave being done or replaced inits life with around the 200km mark,

mines done 510,000k's, all it has had is a set of injectors (just for maintenance sake), brakes tyres, clutch and windscreens, think it has also had a water pump cos it was leaking, oh and globes, and wheel bearings and seals from time to time, other than that hasn't had a spanner on the driveline or motor, as long as it has had oil changes religously it will last for a very long time. Good luck with it.

ask if the gearbox has had the shaft upgraded .. usually only done after failure of 5th gear.
apart from that, 200,000 - Just run in.

Rust is the only thing I would be worried about. Just make sure the oil has been kept up to date.

Like Beretta, make sure you change oil at 5K and service at 10K, and you will have heaps of life.
Check what the previous servicing schedule was before buying. Mine has only had the injectors serviced in 400K.
