Anyone else broken Rodeo lower control arms?

RH lower arm broke in two the other day causing it to drive 'interestinly' on the way home :? . On inspection it has been cracked for some time. Is this common? Fixes so it don't happen again? Bracing?

All bushes are ok, its lifted about 1 1/2" (cranked up bars) and homemade extended shackles in the back. The rear shackle mounts crack of the chassis sometimes as well, alltho i have seen quite a few do this.

Thankfully this isnt a "common" occurance, but its not unheard of either.
These are generally caused by metal fatigue usually brought on by previous damage, rock strikes, deep gouges/ dents, and hitting things like washouts too fast.
Can also be bad luck, a dud may have slipped through quality control, the joys of mass production.
Does it look like it started cracking from a hole or a weld or a damaged bit?
Any photos?
Have a really close look at the new one before you put it on.

Lenghtening the shackles also increases the leverage applied to the shackle mounts, accelerating the failure rate on these it seems.

No pix, but looked like it has been cracked near the shock mount for some time. No real damage close to the crack.

Bit too much speed on the bumps is a real posability  . Mite have to slow down a bit i think.

Rick,
forgot to mention, If you havent already have a very close look at the one on the other side as well, check the welds, holes , bushing mounts and the shock attachment..
The passengers side cops more of a beating than the drivers side as a rule, rough road edges etc.
