Trying to get me another Zuk

Post by Guy »

oooh .. I may be able to wrangle myslef a deal to get my butt back into a Sierra ..
My Mum has just purchased herself a new ford focus, so she sold her Subaru to my little brother who has a sierra with a stuffed motor. As of this morning I have a new to me 1.6 waiting at my place (thanks to Markil ... the man with almost limitless patience it seems) ..

Would it be poor form to see if I can wrangle the Zuk off my brother for a grand install the 1.6 some slightly bigger rubber (virtual lift) and weld the rear (no need for a RWC when transfering between family members)

I miss driving a Zuk

Back when my zook was like that, I had a ball, 1.6L, small muddies and a welded rear
go for it.

A mild buildup

A breakage

A sudden burst of enthusiasm

very very mild .. 29's cig locker and 1.6 .. and no doors ... life will be very very good ... If I can wrangle it ...

But now I have somewhere to work on stuff other than the street ... I have a nice new garage (well new garage frame .. still gotta put the tin on it) and some new toys to put in it ...
I actually preferred wheeling my Zuk when it was smaller and more chuckable ... (and less of a cop magnet/maintenance nightmare)

or what grimbo said ...

The simple often gets laughed at, until it outdrives the big complex built rig owner thats gets upset that it also costs less than the QE2 to build

I'm in the process of doing something very similar.

SWB 1.3L 2" spiring 2" shackles and 31's oe 32's.

i just sold mu other zuk, ( SPOA 1.6L claws fully engineered ) because i didnt enjoy driving it. I was always to worried i root it.

I had more fun in the old feroza which cost $400 bucks and a bottle of chemiweld.

KISS I love that idea

I honestly have got absloutely no idea how that got there (I am not kidding for once) I am assuming that it for in there from playing in the mud (see avatar) ..

Or it was to help lap the 3.9 pinion gear with the 3.73 crownwheel ... :D

In the ad for my zuk I do recall saying that both diffs were totally stuffed andit would be more work than it was worth to try and get into a going concern ... but I had the GU then .. so the Zuk was kind of an afterthought ( I miss my GU more than my Zuk ... I still lust after another GU.. I just really want a Zuk)

Well I got it .. the 1.3 is stuffed (still runs but there is compression into the water jacket and it sounds like a cement mixer)

Has a brand new starter and 4 different sized tyres .. has got da boom box wif a subbie mate ... that will have to go

Hmm need a power steering box for it, already have a pump so may as well go power steer .. and some new springs (mat reset the old ones in the press and see how that goes for a while)

Also I am after the bits that go on the windscreen to fold it onto the bonnet.. (winscreens just get in your way) and a small bikini style soft top.

Needs some bumpers the factory tin ones are stuffed and just plain ugly..

My goals are to keep it light and keep it simple.. No Spring overs,No body lifts .. just some quality time with the welder and grinder and toosd to swap in the 1.6, perhaps a 1l T/Case and some 29's or 30 MT's
