at work

Post by lolergram »

At work I jimmied a twin metal bar that hooks over the steering wheel, comes down 20 cms or so, then its bent at about 100 degrees to come out level towards the drivers seat. The two bars are crossmembered. A plate is mounted to the bottom.

You could do this with the front jesus bar... and have a tie down hold the laptop onto the plate. Might need more securing (on the jesus bar) if u want it for use while travelling... (Use a back stop??? to stop it from swinging backwards...)

Good luck with it

I bought a laptop mount a few years ago from Mobile Desk solutions. Mounts in minutes, just loosen a seat bolt in the floor and slide the bracket under it and tighten the bolt up again and adjust the feet. The stand is fully adjustable, but needs an extra support for off road.

makes it a little hard to use whilst driving though. Whereas the other one allows you to securely mount your laptop and use it on the move with say a GPS

True, but I'm usually stationary when using a laptop. :finger:
Plus you are 10 times less likely to crash if not using a laptop!
(I think a mobile is only 4 times...)

Comes easy on/off. Good for taking quick notes.

If you are 'war-driving' (Searching for AP's on the move) in suburbia,
just have the laptop on the pass seat... That way it is a little less obvious

The beauty of it is that it just hooks on and is easily removed. No holes drilled in the vehicle.

We used this in the Navrun series in 05 and worked a treat.
