fat bar

Post by mudmav »

hey guys i just picked up my new fat bar from pro comp, it came with mounting brackets but no bolts which i thought was poor form but oh well. anyways the prob is i went ot the bolt bloke to get hi-tensile bolts and we run them thorught the mouinting plate bolts and they are m10's so i got m10's. but the captive nuts that are wleded to the bar are a differnet thread have tried metric imperial course and fine thread with no luck, the bolt bloke had thrown his hands in the air and cant help me. so iit hought about ringing stewart from fat but he is not picking up the phone and i need the bar and winch on today for the weekend. Any ideas or anyone who has fitted a fat bar have any info

Are you sure it sthe thread and not the captive nut being welded on a slight angle and is cross threading the bolt??? I say this because you would think the bolt guy would have something!!

Take it back to Pro comp and make them source the bolts for you!!!

Do you some STD Bumper Bolts to match?

Last resort Borrow some and match them.

What about the bolts that held on your previous bar?

May or may not help, but on my GU the bottom bracket with captive nuts had M12 x 1.25 pitch thread. I think all the others were M12 x 1.5 pitch.

sorry about not been able to get to the phone, if i stopped and answered it every time it rang i would never ever get things done.

in referance to your bolt delema they have been for the last 5 years M12x1.25 this is the standard nissan bolt. i have changed them now to 1/2 UNC to cut costs.

and just for future referance. when i designed the products i try to get hold of at least 4 vehicles to try the bars on before production, when i did the GQ bar i found there was a variation of +/- 15mm that means from worst case to worst case there is the potentual for 30mm variation, and that is a f%$%$#g lot, to date i have not found this with the GU 80series or RR bars they have stayed around +/-5mm

your best bet is to get me via email
