Hmm, very interesting, I like the sounds of this DGA. I must get in contact with them some time very soon.

"Known 2", suprised to hear AAMI being helpful. They told me they cant help me because i have more than 3 modifications/accesories.
RACV also no good as even tho they dont have a limit on how many mods your aloud to have, they limit the "hardcoreness" of the mod. e.g. No more than 2inchs higher than factory.
AAMI put me though to Just Cars but they only really want to insurace the car for how much you paid for it, even tho it might owe you double that due to your add ons.
The list goes on: Aliance, GIO, etc.

This is why i like the sounds of DGA, insurance aspecially for 4WD's.

Strange?... I was told by aami that I was not covered in a 4b park or on any non mapped road or track.

Am now thru TCIS, covered anywhere. :)

Hold on a minute., Just been reading the DGA Insurance Brokers website and they say, "The policy does not cover any drivers under 25 years of age". Any one with them under the age of 25, cos im not that old yet.

I have been with AAMI for about 25 years. I rolled my 4by up in Cape York many years ago, and they bought it all the way back to Melbourne for repairs. The repairer stuffed the job up many times over a period of 3 years, so I went into AAMI office, ahootering and ahollering and asked for the car to be written off, and pay me out.
And thats what they did. And I must say, I was VERY HAPPY with the payout figure :D :D ;)

hi guys
im also looking at upgrading insurance at the moment. currently with shannons and asked the question wether i would be covered 4wding again last time it was yes this time they said they would not cover the vehicle off road at all.
so i rang dga insurance $1220 a year which isnt to bad at market value which is $37700( 04 gu). i asked if i could get agreed value and was told i would have to get the car assessed by an independent valuer>>
the guys with dga insurance who did you use or do you all have market value>
havin at least $10,000 worth of accessories i dont want to be caught out if somehting happens

thanks

When i called Shannons and mentioned mods, and offroad they basically hung up.
but remember in the eyes of Insurance companies 26 is MUCH better than 25 for some reason...

You want a laugh, call about their motorcycle insurance - if you ride to work, and cant see the bike at ALL times - eg never out of your sight, they wont insure you.. mate tried with his GSX1400

I recently shopped around. Cheapest quote was Suncorp, then DGA, then TCIS.

Need to define "Offroad" as your offroad (Landcruiser mountain park)and their offroad (pothole in the driveway) can mean completly different things.

Also DGA won't insure your car if it's used for work, tradie, courier etc

I have been through insurance problems with my previous car and I would not insure a modifed car with anyone that does not allow you choice of repairer.

I have porblems with them changing parts for cheaper parts and then having to get it redone, they sent my car 30km away so I couldn't check on the car, the car was returned 6 mm wider than standard and they refused to fix it, they just sent it back the same and then told me that was how I wanted it. And then after I spent a lot of money on reports they argreed it was wrong and wanted to fix it. But I told them to get rooted I was going ahead with my initital plans to sell the car and I would get compensation. They have offered $2200 and are not even offering to cover the reports. I have a bill to repair the car for $8000 but am asking for the difference bewteen my write off value and my trade in of $15000 plus so other cost and time related charges to a total of $24 000.

THis is going through the ombudsman now. The repair process was over 3 months in its self.

I would be very careful about who you insure with. This was Just Car Insurance who are owned by AAMI and I can tell you AAMI are dishonest and will do anything to avoid paying you out, my car should have been written off realistically and if it starts to cost to much lie to pretend it is properly fixed. They even produced an "independent" report saying it was fine and told me Subaru inspecdted the car which was blatant lies

I've had a similar experience with JustCar.

GQ swb got t-boned... no panel damage.

both diff's were banana'd, chassis was bent around 1½ inches all steering etc bent

was insured for 12k agree'd, it come up $50 short of write off (mate in office at JC) due to the quote was "fix" damaged rim's, they didnt include the torn tires, both diff's and chassis was straightened. wouldn't listen to me that the car was driven offroad and I will break it

Returned several times for shoddy workmanship and fixed parts breaking etc

I'm with Affinity supported by FWDVIC http://www.affinityrp.com.au

You have to annually have your vehicle valued by these guys

I haven't had to make a claim but judging by how hard they are just to get the policy I am hoping I don't have to make a claim.

i know a panel beater and he says suncorp metway are great to deal with but aami are real tight and are hard to get paid off so he will never touch one of their claims again. I find it really strange people change insurance companies to get a cheaper quote, well that is no good if they are cheap asses who don't pay out and are not underwritten.

I've just recently switched to DGA as my former insurer changed their policy and no longer want to cover modified 4wds. Australia 4wd Insurance was basically the only cover I could get to cover mods and accessories. Does anyone know what they are like with fixing things or payout figures? Its at market value with about $25K of accessories/mods listed.

My mrs was T-bone by a bloke who was FOLLOWING her moments before the accident who was insured through Just Car insurance. The police have charged him with dangerous driving, speeding, failure due care etc and get this, we've been getting letter after letter from Just Car Insurance demanding payment for his damages...

I had a similar experience where I put a GU on it's side whilst 4wding. AAMI paid me within 10 days, no questions about the track I was on.

Take some advise and get your truck insured for agreed value, this will save a lot of hassle if there is a total loss. All you need is a valuation certificate from a insurance loss adjuster.
My DGA policy says that the vehicle is covered anywhere in Australia with no restrictions to moddifications (you would still need to be roadworthy though)
