That is halarious! I'd love to have seen the driver's face when he got out of that car. What ended up being wrong? Why'd he konk out?

he connected his snorkel to the air intake with a lenth of that flexi ally air ducting pipe the sort of stuff that normally conects the air box to the exhaust manifold on a petrol engine. and it split with engine movement . we towed it out removed the glow plug and cranked it over to empty the cylinders, drained the sump 2 litres of water and the oil. got him home but think the engine is stuffed.

now he has killed this engine hes decided to go with a BIGGER IS BETTER ATTITUDE, hes looking at a 4.0 6 pot from a 1987 80 series, anyone done such a transplant into an lj70? first thing i can think of is squeezing in those 2 extra pots?

I know somebody that has done that convo in a middy but not a bundy, it was straight forward no real problem that I heard about.

That is still 2 cyl's short of an inline 6.

Yeah a V8 is an easier option as here in the uk a kit is available to fit the range rover V8 onto the landcruiser or hilux gearbox.

it aint dried out yet and it smell like an old trout inside, still no joy finding a replacement engine yet
