Hey guys,
I have been looking for a vitara for a while and found one yesty, but didn't make an offer and I missed out.
I have driven the SWB and the LWB, and I prefer the SWB for everything but the engine. The SWB seems a bit gutless (I am looking at under $5000, which means prior 1993 so far, meaning carbi engine in the SWB)
How do you find your SWB (carbi) engine handles general road driving (including hills) and 4x4?
I prefer the SWB, however if the engine is much easier to drive in the LWB, maybe I should look at them. It's not that I don't like the LWB, I just prefer the SWB.

Vitara SWB vs LWB - Based on engine

I have a '93 carby SWB which I admit I was reluctant to buy because I wanted a fuel injected model. I have found this Vit quite acceptable on the open road. It sits easily on the speed limits and is really easy and frugal to drive around town. I haven't found it underpowered for anything I've tackled yet, both bush and sand. It impresses me each time I take it out and find it much more enjoyable than the Jackaroo it replaced.

I've run both. The carby is fine but efi is nicer and more powerful. The lwb will ride nicer and has more space but I do prefer the look of the swb. If I was buying a carby swb then I would look for an auto because then you can regear the diffs for larger tyres (4.625 to 5.125) plus autos rock offroad.

appreciate the offer, but couldn't be stuffed doing an engine conversion unless I can find one already blown for a very cheap price (or I blow the one I get)
It's annoying that I have to drive a minumum 2 hours to look at any of them, and half them are advertised as "immaculate" and they are the worst one's I have seen!
