Yeah, sort of.

I am "assisting" Julie and Shane. Only just getting back into the scene after a long break. So, I'm a little rusty. But, looking forward to it.

ANNOUNCEMENT!!!

This year's Logan Challenge will be 3-car teams instead of the 5-car teams that we have run in the past.

We are trying a slightly new format this year. The event will still be run the same way, with all the stages you've come to expect. But, we are going to see how it goes with 3-car teams instaed of 5.

Update!!!!

The Logan 4WD Club has decided, as a club, that the maximum tyre size for the 2007 Logan Challenge will be 36" (as stamped on the tyre).

This rule will NOT be negatiable under any circumstances.

This was not a decision made by the few, but one made by a vote chaired at the February general meeting. I apologise for any inconveninces, however this requirement will not be relaxed or overturned.

So what is stopping me taking to my tyres with a grinder then heating up a branding iron to stamp them as 36's

Worst move even made on the part of the club. Why not limit it to 37 or 38 as per 90% of other comps. Well it will certainly be alot easier on the organisers with only about 4 teams competing

Because the LC has only ever been a basic club event not an extreme event. And over the last few years we have not realy taken much notice of the way it was heading. Now a decision by the majority of the club has been made. And this is where we now stand. It was only a few years ago that the tyre limit was at 35". Again this was never intended to be a HardCore Extreme comp.

Whats realy up Linc. Cant you drive a car on 36" tyres? Scared you might get beaten by something almost stock?

The tyre size limit just makes it a much more level playing field that almost everyone has a chance to do good in this comp. Trust me there have been way more complaints over the previous years because we allowed larger tyres to run.

Tony I'm not to proud to admit that I have been out driven on a lot lest than 36's mate but I can't see any of our planned team buying 35's or 36's just for this event. Infact it is even an odd size. having said that mate if Shane and Steve still want to compete then we will be there but at this stage I can't see it happening - we all run bigger than a 36 as a road tyre. :?

Hey Tony if this is done to bring it back to a relatively entry style event (which I'm all for) then at what point does say a suzuki running 36's not become an entry level vehicle?

So without having the rules in front of me (in therir current form) I gather that this being an entry level comp I could not bring an 8x8 530HP Common rail MAN truck or an 8x8 western star to the event and compete in one of our demo vehicles that are already scratched and dented and have been dropped????????????????? This is of course in stock vehicle form.

Linc im not going to get in an argument here about this. Im not going to try and justify why we have made this decision. Nore will anyone else from the Logan Club. These are the rules that have been set by a club for a club event. If you feel you have some input into these rules for the future become a member of this club where you will be able to have your say.

As Simon allready made clear this rule was not made by just a couple of people. It was a decision made by the Logan Districts 4WD club as a whole. This Rule will not change.

Without meaning to0 be childish Tony it is a matter of what tyre sizes are relevant to each vehicle in standard form. I personally fell if capped it should have been relevant to the biggest tyre offered buy the manufacturer on that vehicle...........

Having been a past Logan member it has never been an entry level club, as I know very few of the current members you should ask your selves why the old members left.
When I joined I was member 79, 2 years later there where 6.
When I joined the majority of members had 35"+ tyres n highly modded trucks so to get back to being an entry level club does this mean there will be no Nov extreme run?
Does the fact that Logan club has won there own event once in seven years reflect on tyre decision as an attempt to retain the title as most competitors of all other events run 37" there will be minimal compitition

the club president runs 38.5's
treasurer runs 44's
Secarity runs 37's (2 set's)
Committe member 39.5's
Other committe members owe buggies and compete in Buggy events and drive stock nissian/rovers/cruiser and are tow rigs nothing more!

We have done this is as a Club if you have an issue with this decision your invited to brint it to a club meeting! This is why there is a open discusion held at the meetings. when was the last time you attened?

p.s for me to compete this year i have to buy an other set of tyres!

Linc is the only one who said anything about this being an Entry Level Event and he is not a member of the Logan Club. Logan club has never been an entry level club and i doubt it ever will be. This event will still be to the same standard as previous years it just has a limit of 36" tyres.

Becuase its the Logan CLub's event, run and managed by the Logan Club, and they make the rules. Dont like it, dont compete. If you want to have a voice, become an active member of the club.

I'm not a member of the Logan Club, as you can see by my sig line, so I make the above comments from outside the club management. Think of it this way - RUFF (and others) runs this forum, they make the rules, doesn't have to be what everyone else is doing.

I personally think the tyre issue was a reason the event moved away from the 'entry level' ideal. 36's is perfectly fine limit. The 40" limit last year was too big.
