Diffswaps - Need something with disc rear, and narrowish etc

Posting this up for a mate (no net), who wants to swap the diff(s) on his Rocky ute as the rear diff is on its way out, so instead of just fixing he wants to upgrade it with something lockable and with discs

Doesn't want to go too outlandish, wants it looking stock, so this rules out GQ/GU etc

Current track width is approx 1300mm. He wants it a bit wider but not heaps, wants Disc front and rear. He doesn't mind having front and back out of different makes/models but then he has to make sure they have the same ratio. Another option is to just replace the rear axle, and leave the front Rocky, so is there anything out there that has a diff ratio of 3.363, or close?? With lockers available and disc brakes?

I was thinking Jeep wrangler diffs, front an rear. But then its a diesel rocky so petrol diffs would be no good, to low(?) ratios??? Any one have any better suggestions?

Best option would be to swap both diffs with a completely different ratio... Then he can run bigger tyres and have okay gearing. Also, will open up the avenue to a locker.

I think Hilux (If they fit up ok) have ratios of 3.7 which could be useful as a small upgrade. You can always get aftermarket gearing too which is a bonus!
Should be one of the cheaper diffs to buy also... I think another post said they are 1450mm wide tho??

MQ hilux and 60 series diffs all bolt straight up no mods except the rear of an MQ. hilux springs also fit. well rears do anyway, and so do hilux shackles..... ilux also come with 4.3 i believe as standard and they go up to 4.88 if you look around.

Yeah, MQ and 60 sound great, but they will increase track width by a fair amount. He wants this looking as stock as possible, if you catch my drift Which is why I thought jeep, or even pajero? Does any one know if the Hilux width is in fact 1450mm? Would 7cm extra on either side be quite noticeable?

Lux axles have a wider track then Rocky, but only a fraction narrower then a widetrack Rocky, so a set of factory wide track flares on the front wouldn't look to out of place. But rear axle, a Bundera might be more the way of looking at the rear due to the diff being offset. Would then have a fair range of diff ratios to pick from, aswell as locker options aswell in the future.

Solid axle luxs are about 1400mm wide at the wheel flanges. Be carefull with your rim choice though because there is a fair amount of offset that might stick it outside the guards further.

hard to explain how to do it and you would need to make disc brackets and weld them to diff.
