I can get two complete 80 series diffs...the front is standard lsd and the back is fitted with ARB air locker...can get them (and a lot of spares) for $1800.
Putting these under my truck (HJ60) would make the coil conversion easier, make the wheel track wider, 4 wheel disc brakes and so on.
I am just unsure about the strength of the 80 series diffs compared to the 60 series...are the stronger, weaker, the same?
Would you do it, or stick with the 60 diffs (which are both locked!)

The rear diff is exactly the same as a 60 only longer. I used an 80 difflock in my 70 series centre. As for the front, they are weaker. They are the same as a hilux 8". But with an air locker fitted they tend to be a lot stronger. I know a few people with 80s and none of them seem to have any problem with them. They seem to have the usual break a cv problem (that all 4bys have) before they blow up the front diff.
I have been looking into this for a while now for my bj73 and I was also concerned about strength in the front diff, but from what I have observed they dont seem to have to much trouble.
I say go for it. It will be a good conversion. The only reason I have not done it yet is because of funds.

Firstly with the brakes...Could I just hook up my excisting brake lines to the 80s brakes. Obviously new lines may need to be made, but will a 60s brake booster and so on be compatible with an 80s brake setup?
Now comes wheels...Are 60s and 80s the same? I am pretty sure the stud pattern is the same, but what about offset? I could sell all the rims I have to suit my 60, but I just want to know what I am up for. Can you run 15" rims on an 80 series?
The 80s diffs that I am looking at have the 10mm wheel stud upgrade...does this mean I can simply get the holes in the wheels drilled out, or am I up for new wheels to suit regardless?
