Gu Head Unit removal

Post by weeman »

Hi,

I tried searching for this but couldnt find anything but this...

How hard is to remove the factory head unit from a GU patrol mines an 04 model and wanting to replace the double din with an aftermarket unit.

Anyone had any experiences with these.

Is your's the GU4? If so not sure how to get plastic cover off, but the head unit has four screws and the pulls straight out, very easy.
My GU3 has two screws just above air con. controls and two small 'leverage points' on bottom lip of plastic cover, just insert small flat blade screw driver. Again it's very easy to remove.

yeah mine is the last of series 3.

Sounds farily simple, so once i insert the flat bade screw driver that will pull the tabs aside and it should come out fairly easy :?: :?:

thanks for your help...

Yeah just sort of lever it out, be gentle as it doesn't take much to remove it. Also, not all GUs have the two screws, but mine did and is same spec as yours...

When I replaced my head unit, I got a cable which plugs in between head unit (Alpine one) and nissan wiring loom so that you don't have to cut or splice cables.... Made the job super easy! :) :)
