BTW, I have a partial rear D60 if you need a starting rear axle... its just tubes and the centre section (Solid) with spindles, but I have 2xsets of CroMo shafts ...

How about you have a 2 man team - call them driver and navi if you like. Either of these 2 people can drive/navi. They can both be in the 'car', or 1 out 1 in, or whatever (well, not both out ...

The logistics of making this happen for me... timing, travel, etc - are a nightmare. Also I haven't driven in about 2 years, so I have to remember where the go and stop pedals are and what all those damn levers do... and what that new joystick thing is for ...

hmmm... haven't driven the FireBug out of my garage for 2 years.

I would need some big pockets to carry all that recovery gear and crap... and really not setup for winching anything except my axels up and down.

I think the FireBug may become un-drivable at about 50kph... 30kph if I keep the 50kg's ...

Huge congrats to Nick and Craig, Team Black Betty. Consistent driving all weekend, finishing in 4th place... first 'full body' truck, first non queer steer truck.

Competitors area was much better this year - security worked well here I would say. It was a bit of a pain to have to walk all the way ...

lady at work asked for a recommendation on someone who can work on their F-Truck (F100 I think, maybe early 80's model... haven't seen it).

From her description I think they have broken a rear axel shaft ("rear wheels weren't turning, we pulled off the wheel and the pin think with teeth ...

I don't want the buggy, but I'll put my hand up to rent Taz...

I'm in for Bathurst and Walbundrie... working on options for the Willowbank round...

depending on how stuck it is (ie. twisted splines in locker etc), you can use a stick welder, joint 2 sticks (should be enuff - maybe 3?), earth to the diff close to the centre, hold the stick so it only touches the piece of broken axel, arc it up and have someone pull the earth so the stick welds ...

...and that's the way I like it. If there are no rear steer or reverse penalties teams can just take 20 reverses and rear steer themselves silly without thinking about it.

I prefer to see teams work up a strategy, avoid reverses, and make the rear steer guys really have to think about using rear ...

I've got footage of the FireTruck... when I get a chance I'll edit it together and u-tube it.

Bring back reversing penalties and add a rear steer penalty.... really make people earn their points.

Mud 'race' rather than mud run. Keep it under lights - having the entire crowd there is a buzz.

Better security in Competitors area.

Run what ya brung, and hope ya brung enough. If the gap between 1st and 40th is too great then reduce the field? I like the Top Truck format (some of it anyway) from the States.

yep, I reckon the mud kills more trucks than any other stage. Alot of trucks limp through the rest of the weekend after they have finished in the mud...
