I started to strip out mine and gave up after a while for the same reason. Mind you I didnt take Rotazuks advice and strip all the tape off first. Just take your time and trace each wire as he said, then double check the position of the wire on the ECU plugs to check if it is required and if not ...

He got it (finally) from me Chris (original stuff from the Piece of Shite) as it was surplus to me with the 16V engine going in. Make sure you create a tech thread for this so it can be added to the bible (and on ORE too). I'll PM you on ORE the diagram if I can find it (or get your email somehow ...

Spoke too soon. Drove it out of the garage and stopped it cause I smelt smoke (and saw it too). Was from the painted extractors and now it wont start. Might be a coil problem as I couldnt get a spark but had power and earth to coil. Going to buy a timing light tomorrow and sort it. Still smiling ...

Was an 8v inj engine but that was removed (along with loom/ecu) and a newer 16v engine with its loom/ecu installed. Tested power to starter and there is no power to the small pos lead to the starter. There is power to the starter through the larger pos wire and the earth is sweet. Dash lights are ...

dirt and dust in the intake
Hi guys. Just in the process of installing a 16v engine and noticed a layer of dust and grit in the intake. Not really happy with the guy I bought it off at the moment as he said it was running well before it was removed but the water pump had been banged pretty hard (may have happened since removal ...

Sorry should've mentioned it was going in a vitara Swb. J18A or G16B
Had a quick look in the bible and couldnt find anything on the viability of the J18A vs G16B. I am after a quick answer as to whether the cost and hassle of mounts, parts etc is worth it. Can get a G16B for half the price of the J18A, is the price diference really worth it? Or is the balance of the ...

What was the state of the fuel left in the tank? Is it full of crud? Maybe the pump has been picking up crap and blocked up but the gentle tap frees the impellor( not sure on the way they work) and allows it to spin. Check the filter for signs of rubbish and the pickup. Can these be run backwards to ...

Pass. It is the factory unit on the passenger side wheel fender. A sparky I spoke to briefly mentioned that if the alt's brushes are worn then this could cause a clicking due to power fluctuations (or something to that effect), but couldnt confirm unless he was able to see it and test it himself ...

voltage reg clicking
Hi, Recently the voltage reg (external) in my 87 hilux started to click. if I switched off the engine it would go away when restarted but recently the click has stayed even after restarting and only goes away if I load up the electrical system (lights, fans, etc). All the earths and cable from alt ...

This might be a dumb idea but what about a more restrictive (not too much though) air system? The idea being that the air being sucked into the snorkle will build up some velocity and when you throttle off it takes a bit to slow down and so leans out the mix untill it stalls. What about a prefilter ...
