I was in the same boat as you and went for the D22 because it was a cheaper option and now love it, great to drive onroad, goes ok on easy tracks & beach & the Economy is fantastic 10 ltrs per 100 round town & as low as 8.5 on H/way. My 2 cents worth Dooma.

Dosn't go as good as a D40 but it does have a good lot of puch. Economy is excelent I get 10ltrs per 100 around town & on Trip to Rockhampton with cruise control set to 105 with only cloths bags ...

I sold my lux for the same resons a few years ago & bought a more comfier ride. Have regreted that decsion ever since, as my wagon was to big and pretty compared to a Lux. My 2 cents worth is spend the time and money on the Lux there a good all round truck.

I did the same as you and went from a Gu wagon back to a D22 dualcab for work related reasons. I cant see you getting a D40 for that sort of money thou you will get a D22. They are no were near as comfy as a coil sprung car. It will suit forestry and beach work but dont expect to much more than that ...
