I have a 2.8 and it rocks! No complaints, not the speediest of engines but I don't really expect much more out of my lux.

I'm located in Central Brisbane.

I really don't have a huge interest in getting involved in any club scense, just want to go out with a few mates from time to time and have some professional advise behind me.

Spending a couple of hundred dollars on some training seems pretty resonable to me.

Did a stupid thing - coax cable

I just did a stupid thing and cut a wrong cable, which happens to be the coax to my UHF.

Just wanted some advice as to how to rewire back to the aerial end.

Its a GME 4702.

Thanks

Which Head to go for?

I've been quoted around $1800 for a new Kiwi head and $1000 for a Chinese head.

Is it really worth that much of a price difference to go for a non-chinese breed head?

They are both brand new heads with a few re-coned parts in them.

Over the next 3-5 years would I notice a difference between the ...

the oil issue looks to be the radiator leaked and the coolant ran down under the engine which had a bit of a build up of oil, there was only a bit left on the road so when i put my fingers on it was very oily (there wasn't a pool there or anything).

I'm going to fix up the radiator and get a compression test done on it.

Then will take it in to get a good look over.

I'm just hoping that any results from here won't be as dramatic as needing to drop a recon engine or having to rebuild my one.

so i got up under the hood and its the radiator that has drained, not the oil. did feel rather oily on the ground though, and there seems to be oil on the front diff.

the oil levels are fine though and would explain why there was no warning.

how dramatic is a drained radiator compared to the oil ...

Bonnet latch stuck

A while ago i had to pull my dash out.

I haven't put it back together yet but i now need to open my bonnet and when you pull on the cable that manages the latch it just stays slack and nothing happens.

how do i get that latch to undo so i can get it up?

It's on a '93 Lux

i dont really think its a good idea to start it when it's got no oil in it at all.

the only positive thing i can see is after it stopped oil still continued to drip, would this mean a less likley hood of it beiing seized?

Well my canvas canopy is now on its last legs and it's time for a new one.

Any recommended places I should look around Brissie at getting this done?

i've got photos of the 6x9's, but not of the 6"

i got 6" splits up front

recovery point on a Hilux

My lux has no dedicated recovery points on it.

the strongest mount I can see is the bracket between the leaf and the chassis (spring hanger?).

is this an advisable point to use? can it take much snatching pressure?

the MTR is obviously not a tyre for me then, I'm not looking for an aggressive tyre.

I want a tyre suited to highway as this is 90% of my driving but I don't want a highway tyre as for that 10% of off road I do want the ability to still have a responable level of performance.
