Re: feroza - Pod filter vs standard

I tested both my F300 Rocky and Feroza with a new K&N pod filter with no gains. Lots'a noise with less power on the hills and no extra oomph, when you actually checked the speedo on the flat roads...a total waste of money! The only good thing...I didn't pay for it. lol Guess what I have gone back to?

MM 'but' is yours not a much modified machine? *S* Is it fair to compare with a stock standard manual feroza? I'm ignorant on such things.
I wonder though if one had unlimited cash to spend, on developing a hard core off roader, starting with 2 of the same base model, (aside from one being manual ...

I have 32's on my off roader only Rocky. They cause some scary noises when meeting the body bits. They raise the gearing significantly also.
This doesn't matter greatly where I play, but if you are thinking about serious stuff, you might want a few spare clutch disks. lol

The one I had made for my Fez wasn't cheap, about $100. about half the price of the genuine article from memory. I'd like to think 1.6 Rocky ones might be cheaper, because the are rather more simple. Don't know though.

What is the mileage of the vehicle? When was the cam belt last replaced?
While it might not be broken, ie you still have ignition...if the belt has stripped several lugs, your valve timing and ignition timing will be way out. You'll still produce spark, but it wont be occurring at the correct time ...

MM...I'll look into your assertion that gravity won't feed efi. I appreciate that it mightn't supply the fuel needs of a high performance motor at medium to full revs, but I imagine it would still get you home in an emergency.
It should therefore be useful for test purposes... ie if the motor doesn ...

Ok, I'll invite critics, but petrol combustion, 4 stroke engines require, (1) compression,
(2) ignition and (3) fuel. You have apparently confirmed your motor is receiving fuel reasonably consistently. at least for test purposes Assuming your motor is not entirely worn out/ tired/ and has correct ...

I got home one day by strapping a five litre can to the windscreen and gravity feeding the fuel hose direct to the carby on one of my previous vehicles when its fuel pump died.. Oh and before you ask, my dad was a mechanic.

Hi for my 20 cents worth, you probably don't provide enough information for anything like a reasonable online diagnosis, from a non professional. I'm one of the more practical types though, and if the motor seems not to be misfiring, doesn't indicate a blown cylinder gasket etc, and appears to ...
