105 rear axle into an 80 ?

I busted the rear RHS axle today in my 80 today. It had the hub stud holes bored out to accept the 100 series hub studs ( which are 10mm not 8 or 9) Could I just get a 105 rear axle and slide it straight in without having to do the hub stud bore-out, like what I'd have to do If I get a stock 80 ...

Totally awesome thread mate, in fact one of my favorites across all of the forums I visit.

Earlier on you were saying you take customers on tours, do you still do this ? There's something captivating about those Rainforest Jungles.

Dunno If it's just me but the video links just go to the youtube homepage. I tried putting the link into the toolbar but that didn't work either.

Love your build so far mate.

I'm sure the wait will be worth it when It's finally done.

It's going to be a weapon off road

Bit off topic, but can I ask you what's going on with the RFC ? Just saw the 2012 movie and some footage of 2013 and competitor numbers seem to be way down.

Re: TroopCarrier swivel seat

Dunno about roadworthiness but you could buy the seats you like and then just make your own swivel base, or get an engneering joint to make it for you.

If it's any use a mate mentioned his Mitsubishi Delica has swivel seats, they might be worth looking into ?

Yeah I've got the 93 and the 105 pads go in no probs, makes a fair bit of difference too.

Re: Top kingpin bearing - 80 series.

On their website locktup say to use 10-15kg of force on the pull scale for tyres over 33 inch. This is without the felt on and with the swivel housings free from the tie rod. I just tightened mine up with the shims that were already in it, it seems a bit firm but kinda has a nice feel to it. I don't ...

Re: Top kingpin bearing - 80 series.

Top and bottom bearings are exactly the same part, and both just sit there, what is holding it captive? Cheers mate, that clears it all up. I thought there were two different types of bearings, but looking at it now the lip on the top one is just the cone bit that the outer race sits on. ie I'd ...

Re: Top kingpin bearing - 80 series.

Yeah I've done that, just can't work out how to get the bearing off. The bottom one is fine as it just sits there but the top one is held captive. Edit : So I ended up hacking away at it till it came off. One of my manuals says you need a bearing press to put it back in but I'm hoping it will just ...

Top kingpin bearing - 80 series.

How do you get it off to replace it? I thought it might have something to do with the 2 bolts that anchor the pin, but apparently not. I mean it's easy to get it off by prying it over the lip of the pin but I'm sure there's a proper way to do it, and I need to know how to put the new one in without ...

Forgot about this thread  Light must just represent a fault being deteced. I was lucky enough to borrow the scanner from work and 3 fault codes came up, the main one being the camshaft sensor. AU2 V8 Warning Light ?

It's a red flashing hand with a symbol of a car in the middle. The mrs was driving home, and after stopping at the shops, she got about 100M after starting the car then the ignition cut-out. She managed to pull over. After a minute she started it up no probs and drove a short distance home. The ...

My current 73 series has 35" pedes on 15x7s, and I need 2 inch wheel spacers to stop them rubbing. On an old 73 series, 36s on -22 offset 15x8s rubbed, but didn't when I put them on -22 15x10s.

I had a similar issue with a NA 3B. My current midi has 2" OME suspension and shocks. They're Ok, nothing special though, I'm sure they'd be better than stock ones.

Have you looked at the EFS range ? The last 73 I had with those was pretty good, I'd even recommend them.

Re: 73 MID wheel base engine choices

would it be cheaper and more viable to do a v8 conversion? Then youd have to get it engineered, adaptor kits etc. I think some came from the factory with a 1HZ, that way you wouldn't need a certificate and it would be a good simple engine for the middy IMO. Don't know what would be required for ...

Nice problem solving, I'd still be happier if their was some type of valve gaurd around them, like a piece of right angle welded over the top with just enough room to get the top off the valve. How do those gauges work remotely anyway, is it blu tooth or wifi or something like that ? Pretty techno ...

Find a car stereo mob and ask them to wire an additional switch to turn the radio on independently of the ignition? It'd still beep when the doors are open.
