I am currently in the middle of an extra cab / chassis extend conversion to my HJ47 Troopy - still some months away from finished - i'll start a members thread one day and show what's going on.

When you are talking about pushing around the weight of a 60 then there is no substitute for cubic inches. Basically, forget the V6. Ever hear of anyone swapping in a V6 into a landcruiser? There is a reason!

Thats a baby I just picked up a 60series with 380000 on it.
Got it for 1500 on gas, roof basket, cargo barrier,spare carrier, no rust straight body, long range petrol tank and 6 months rego :armsup:

The split bonnet you have is off an early year 40. They changed to the one piece at some stage (don't know of the year). You will need to find one off a 40 from a year nearer to your 45 model. I'm not sure if the split bonnet was the only bonnet change throughout the years of 40 series production ...

i saw something similar around the southern suburbs of brisbane (kingston area kinda).. and it had an older style 40 tub on a 45 chassis with some style sides.. looked pretty cool actually.. i think it was registerd in QLD.. not sure..

You will need to get it engineered at least to reduce the seating capacity, and aslo to get the structure checked where you fab the back wall - assuming you're going to close the back in - so top half shorty bottom half troopy?

I don't think there is such a thing as a fitted tarp available. Don't think a jeep top will work either.

Getting a bikini top made for you will not cost very much and a full softop made from an upholsterer is going to cost more but still reasonable I think. Shop around and get one done by a place ...

Before I get really serious about this, does anyone know off hand If I need engineering approval to put a swb hardtop onto a troopie tub? I'm in Queensland BTW. I know it can be done just want to know if I'll have problems getting it legal.

Any info or pics appreciated.

Too wide, and they will consume too much width-ways surface area. Taller, on the other hand, and they only consume lengthways surface area. (If that makes any sease)
