Have you a contact number / web address for Dobinson's in Brisbane ?

Oh, so now mister 3.0td wants some serious tech, does he? (Sorry, had to say it)

Just calm down.

I'm not 'waging war on those who make remarks about the 3.0TDI'

I just put three unhelpful posts up in the same vein that I have seen before. Point made - let's move on.

For those that still feel sorry for 3.0 owners, take a look at the survey on the Yahoo Autos Group:

m

I'll tell you the results since you have to be a lucky owner to complete the questionaire and view them..

overall, only 1.19% are unhappy with their 3.0TDi Patrol and only 7.14% report ...

Look - everyone is slagging the 3.0TDi. Someone posts a problem with the 3.0l engine and before you know it half a dozen follow ups appear saying how crap they are.

I'm just doing the same - it may not be helpful but it evens the score.

If I have an oil leak (or whatever the latest common ...

This just about takes the biscuit. You get an oil leak at 168,000 Kms ! Well, what's the issue. Nothing lasts forever. Just be glad you didn't buy a Landrover you would have had oil leaks as you drove off with your new car. Personally I would take my 3.0 over a 2.8 or 4.2 anyday. The resale value is ...

CV joints - how often to repack?

I have been paging through my Gregory's manual - They recommend repacking the grease in the CV joint every 20,000 miles (32,000kms). This seems a little excessive to me. I recall it was a job that needed doing every 60,000 miles in my old Landcruiser. What is the schedule that people keep to ...

Here's what I've found out from Nissan UK: Early 2000 3.0 TDdi engines were prone to problems due to insufficient lubrication / oil capacity. All 3.0 TDdi's sold in the UK up to October 2000 were subject to a recall (fault code P1110) and the engines were replaced. I have checked with Nissan and the ...

You say early 2000. How early? What changes were subsequently made? How would you know if yours has them?

My only other comment would be that your truck is far from standard and is probably worked hard - which may have contributed to your engine failure. On the other hand, you know of 5 other ...

The only problem I have found is with the steering. Instead of the wheel pointing a quarter to three - it's more like twenty to three. Is this likely to be the tracking that's off? Should it be done by Nissan or would a tyre centre do a better job.

Thanks for the help so far everyone.

I've been lurking for a while and it looks like there is a good bit of Nissan Patrol expertise here.

I have recently bought a 3.0 TD Patrol SWB. It's a 2000 model (September) with 45,000 Kms on the clock.

Are there any faults that this model/engine is prone to? My engine seems to make a hell ...
