I have also had:
BFG Mud
BFG all
Goodyear MTR
Swampers
Cooper ST
Interco Trxus

The Xterrain was the best by far for all rounder, only tyre better offroad was the swamper.

great mileage and AWESOME on wet bitumen.

Re: Currently engineerd in Vic - being recalled/deregistered

I think the moral of the story here is those who have aquired a 'dodgy' engineers Cert to certify things that they Engineer knew wasn't legal, will soon find their certificate isn't worth the paper it is written on.

Under our constitution wouldn't deregistering a car because it no longer complies with the law entitle you to a buyback or some form of compensation?

If what you say is true bogged, VicRoads could be facing a massive class aciton suit.

Tell them to get some legal advise, pronto!

Why?

I am looking for some different brand tyres to slice n dice to expand a feature we did on the BFG MT Vs Goodyear MTR. Specifically the strength in the sidewall / compound etc.

My Advice for anyone thinking about Mongrels is this:

Look at tread depth. Mongrels are half the price, but have the tread depth.

The sidewalls are the same POS muddy that the donor carcase is from. Simex have strong new casings.

a Second hand set of Simex are better than new mongrels, and about ...

The weight of the tyre is an indication of how strong they are, the side walls are thick and strong, they clean well, and a re well suited to the victorian clay mud.
