Yep I think we've got a winner. It's definitely a supra box  W55 or W57. As far as the Caprice front end....well http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb220/dustyboy_01/P7240103.jpg Me thinks she's past that. Chassis is twisted and broken. Shame really cos I couldn't find a spot of cancer ...

celica or supra 5 speed

hey all you toyotaphiles. I just picked up a smashed WB ute that has either a celica or supra box behind a 253. Can anyone help me out as to how to identify the box.

Not so, because the first thing i did after trying to park the truck was wind the steering bump stops in as far as was possible without causing tyre fouling and it didn't necessarily make the noise only at lock.

if your considering a chev diesel you can probably afford a GU turbo d. The conversion thru brunswick diesels runs at around $17k

I'd just like to back up the piss weak gearbox comment. My 2001 diesel triton gearbox blew not once, but twice. Once at 80k and then again at 160k. Also the IFS would make some god awful noises dropping off kerbs, let alone in the ruts.
