OK charcoal canister and distributor are hooked up as described now -
There is a solenoid (bolted to the firewall) and I think one hose off it goes to the inlet manifold - where does the other end go??

And can someone tell me where the air cleaner one goes?

Vacuum hose locations?

Ive fitted a replcement engine (8 valve) to my sierra but unfortunately because the new one was out of a swift, Ive had to fit the original carby and inlet manifold onto the new motor. Because the old one was taken apart by a mechanic (who broke the news the head was cracked) all the vaccum hoses ...

I second what MART said about the rocker shaft screws stripping easy. I found when taking the ones out of my new motor they were much softer than the ones in the old motor and I destroyed many getting them out... Lucky I had the old ones to put back in.

I had no trouble lining the clutch up by eye, but I did it while the engine was out. Engine popped straight back on.

I had this exact problem this weekend. Using the instructions on this post, I took the carby apart and cleaned it (several times). On the last attempt I fould a LITTLE bit of crud stuck in the end of the idle jet. It had exactly the same symptoms, like idling when cold but stalling once warmed ...

FWD motors don’t seem to have mechanical fuel pumps, so take off the plate bolted onto the mounting point. There is also a small push rod (just a bit of rod a couple of inches long) that needs to go in a hole in there so it sits between the camshaft and the fuel pump. The mechanic that took the bus ...

If you can get an alternator off a swift, you may be able to use the flat belt pulleys supplied on the new motor. This would mean not being able to fit the fan on the front of the motor and installing an electric one. Also the air conditioner compressor if you have one will not be compatible with ...

The inlet manifold and carby will not suit the sierra. The exhaust manifold wont either. The sump wont fit unless you have a large suspension lift cos it will hit the diff. When you swap the sump, the dipstick needs to be swapped too. The clutch wont fit on the sierra gearbox spline. I swapped the ...

Swapping in a swift / barina / cino 1.3 8v

OK this may be basic for some people on here but I’m going to put it up as it may help someone. There is heaps on here about the 16v swift motors but not too much about standard swift / barina / cino engines. I haven’t done anything this major before but managed, so if there is someone else doing ...

Any idea who I can ring to find out about a right angled adaptor? Really keen not to muck around changing cams over!

1.3l swift engine conversion question

Gday I'm in the process of fitting a replacement engine into my sierra. I know I need to swap the sump, oil pick up, inlet maniford, exhaust manifold as the new motor is out of a fwd car. My question is about the distributor - i've read that this may or may not fit? And can I just swap the old one ...

Merry Christmas Just had the same problem with my zook about 3 weeks ago. Unfortunately, the chemi weld may not work because the oil is pushing into the water, not the other way around. Had mine taken apart by a mechanic who said the problem was not the gasket and wanted to send the head away for ...
