Possible vacumm leak
1993 RR 3.9 V8. I think I have a permanent vacumm leak. You can hear what appears to be a leak on the passenger side, but as the petrol and LPG intake are on that side I'm not completely sure. An old trick that worked for all BMWs was to pull the dipstick out while the engine was idling and if you ...

Love my EAS
My 93 Rangie has EAS. I love it! Its done 270,000k and still has the original air bags. Only problem is that it takes a few minutes to fully pump up if left stationary for a couple of days. I'm thinking of possibly doing an 'endless air' setup and connecting that to my tank as opposed to rebuilding ...

ECU pinout
I've previously put a 3.5 Rangie onto MS, and I'm about to do my 3.9.
However, the 3.5 had a 35 pin ECU and the 3.9 has 40 pins.
If you have a pinout for the 40 pin ECU I would be most appreciative.
I'd also like the corresponding 40 pin ECU plug if anyone has one they don't need?

Found It!!
My fault!
I fitted a new stereo unit and what I thought was the power lead for the antenna amplifier is in fact a lead for turning the original stereo display down when the lights are on.
Disconnected it from the stereo and all is well now.

Parking light problem
1993 RRC 3.9 auto on gas I have a short in my parking light circuit, immediatly blows fuse. The short is in the left (pass) side circuit and so far I have removed the rear lights completely, the number plate globes, the front parking light globe, the trailer wiring circuit and it still blows ...

anti lock brake light
The anti lock brake light on my 1993 RRC has come on again. No problem its probably just a sensor gap issue. I have just finished driving it for over 5000ks since it came on and the brakes work fine. I have the workshop manual which tells me how to read and clear the code, and have done it before ...

Thanks for that Phillip! It all makes sense. I'll just use the fuel temp sensor wiring to connect an air temp sensor. My biggest problem with installing megasquirt in this Rangie is that the ECU connectors are totally differnet between the two Lucas systems and I don't have a pin-out for the later ...

I know for sure that it is inside the flapper type air flow meter. I did a megasquirt conversion on my earlier RR and just jumper wired the air temp wiring to an external one. I believe it is the same in the non flapper meter as well but haven't actually tried to fit the megasquirt to this RR so can ...

6.5 rangie wins a cupie doll!!
Yes it was the timing. All my fault, I've been progresively increasing the advance because LPG likes more advance. Apparently not as much as I gave it. My previous LPG Rangie ended up with about 12 deg advance, so that is where I started this one, and kept advancing it until I could get no more on ...

Serious lack of power!!
I've got a 93 RR 3.9V8 with ZF auto. Goes Ok but seems to lack the verve my other two Rangies had, (rebuilt 3.5 EFI with ZF, and a 3.9 EFI 5spd). Saturday we did a test trip with our new Cub Supamatic Camper, (weighs about 700kgs fully loaded) from Canberra to The Cascades (near Cooma). Boy am I ...

Charge light is on, but alternator still charges!
Drove from Canberra to Woolongong yesterday to pick up a cub camper in my 93 Rangie 3.9l EFI with gas. Yesterday near Goulburn, about 100ks from Canberra, the charge light suddenly came on. I pulled over, everything looked good, I checked the charge rate with my multimetre and it was 13.8 - 14 volts ...

Inside Lucas AMM
I think I've found the cause of my high fuel consumption! I took apart my AMM ( a Lucas 5AM) and have found a burnt out resistor. Great, now all I have to do is find out what value it is and I can fix it. Can anyone help. It's R1 on the circuit board, it's physically bigger than any of the others so ...

Air flow meter/Vacuum leak
I have a 1993 RRC, 3.9 V8. Runs very rich, you can smell it, fouls up the plugs real easy. I've take the Mass Air flow Meter apart and sprayed carby cleaner through it. It looks clean but the two wires aren't the thin wires I was expecting. One is what looks like a resistor, complete with different ...

Fuel guage/fuel consumption
I've just bought a 1993 RRC, 3.9V8, ZF auto. I'm getting about 22l/100km out of it at the moment. Not real good, but better than when it had no vacuum advance and a 'stuck open' thermostat. I've put a new 82deg thermostat in and replaced the dissy with a bosch scorcher which gives out a very healthy ...

1993 RRC alarm
My alarm has started to play silly buggers. The clicker doesn't seem to have any effect, and yes I have changed the batteries. The clicker light goes on as it is supposed to but the alarm doesn't arm. However, sometimes I think something must be getting through because it can end up with the doors ...

Help needed by someone near Colac VIC
I'd like to ask if someone could inspect a camper trailer for me in Colac, take some pics and email them to me.
I live in Canberra and can't really just pop down for a look!
Anyone able to help?
My phone no is 0412251442

The Lucas has a gearbox. Looked pretty good actually, a lot better than the solenoid contacts and the commutator.

Need starter motor
I pulled the old starter out of my 1987 RR. It has a Lucas starter. It got a good clean up and works now but probably not for too long. I've been quoted $120+parts to repair mine, (if parts are available for the Lucas) or $295 for a rebuilt Presolite, (never heard of them before). What should I do ...

Just took it for a drive!
I guess its official! I'm a Rangie man! This Disco is in very good nick. The only problem I could feel was a slight vibration as you accelerate through 2500rpm and several squeaks from the dashboard and rear door. Performance was adequate, but not as lively as the 3.9 V8, (obviously). I'm sure I'd ...
