Re: GQ, Hilus or 60 series diff conversion for a disco1

Hey Chris,
Corgie Carriers pics are pretty much the same set up as mine except his looks like he retained the standard drive arm...

Actually, hey Corgie, how did you get around using the standard steering arm???? :? As I cant see the end where it attaches to the GQ ball joint!!!

Re: GQ, Hilus or 60 series diff conversion for a disco1

Hey Chris, sorry the piccie isn't that great. but as you can see (hopefully) once the radius arms were moved forward (by 15mm) the panard bracket didn't have to be moved to far away from the housing. http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii204/rover_owner/Steeringarm02.jpg As for the shocky mounts, as ...

Re: GQ, Hilus or 60 series diff conversion for a disco1

Hey Pacman, when it came to the panard i did both, we used 15mm spacers and pushed the diff further forward (we had to take 5mm off the nut to give a couple of threads showing, this also addressed the rear of the front guard clearance) and we used the original panard bracket from the Rover diff and ...

Hey guys, I know the name says rover_owner but I also own an import '88 Pajero Exceed 4D56 intercooled 2.5 turbo diesel. A bit of background first, I've owned the Paj since 2004 I was (and still am) the first owner since it was brought over and it only had 42,000 klm on the clock, it's been a pretty ...

Re: GQ, Hilus or 60 series diff conversion for a disco1

Oops! the jap diffs under a Land Rover always get a good debate going aye  . Cost is a big factor in any conversion which is why I went the way I have with GQ and LC80 diffs, a rough (and I mean rough) breakdown of costs for mine at the moment is $250 for the front diff complete, around $350 ...

Re: GQ, Hilus or 60 series diff conversion for a disco1

Hey Starky, Me and a friend are currently doing diff conversions on my '86 Rangie, we fitted a GQ diff up front and have just fitted an 80 series rear. Both converions are pretty straight forward if your handy with a welder and have a bit of patience (plus know a friendly machine shop to make a ...

Hey Chris, As I said in my last post I intend to run 33's for the road and 35's for fun :) and when you say standard, I take it you mean standard Patrol or Toyota sizes as the Range Rover only has a 29" tyre. If you use the gq or 80 series diffs you don't need a bigger offset just 8" rims, then you ...

Disco lift

I thought the disco had the same chassis and suspension set-up as the Range Rover!!! My one has +2" king springs and only had to knock up the lip inside the rear guard for my BFG 265/75/16 A/Ts (32") to clear. Oh, and if you set up the stops on the front diff the tyres don't rub on the radius arms ...

You say that you could pick up a GQ for $5k possibly with a winch attached and throw $5 to $8k at it...... Land Rover wreckers Brisbane?

Hi guys, (er, and ladies(?)) I've just become a Range Rover owner, (a standard 86 model crying out for a bit of tlc and some mods :? ) and I was hoping that someone here could point me in the direction of some local Land Rover wreckers (Brisbane area). I've checked out the links page but they appear ...
