yep anywhere from just under half to 3/4 mine goes. This is fine as long as the engine is full of water. Problems occur when at 3/4 temp you start to lose water.

Yep the auto trans fluid goes through both tanks on the radiator. i.e. there is 4 barbs sticking out of the radiator.
As suggested if you get a manual radiator you can mount a seperate oil cooler in the front. Early Magnas and EA or similar Falcons used to run these as factory and can be bought ...

quite possible that the manifold casting is the same, especially since the Diesel turbo manifolds apparently bolt onto the Petrol engines also.
The TB42 and TB42E ones are same dimensions but the early TB42 ones are missing that boss.... from memory.

Ill have to give that a try next time....

So there are two different types of VL caps? and you need the one to suit a spacer......

or the spacer you are referring to is the standard TB42 one, so the VL cap will suit TB42, but not TB42E's.

hmmm

Hey Nigel, that sounds like an awesome setup.

I Would love to see some pics.

Are you using an EF timing disk and coil pack also?

I want to do this even just for the spark as my 88 is straight gas anyway/ with the EFI intake already.

Setup info for the megasquirt would be great to see also ...

Yep, you can hook up a switch and a couple of diodes to the Torque Converter Lock Up Solenoid wire, and have it lock up whenever you hit the switch, or if you dont want it to lock up at all you can hit the power swiitch.

The wear on the fingers wont matter (it is hard to see from the photos) unless it has been squealing for ages and the fingers are about to snap off.

Yep it looks like your throwout bearing is seized. The outside of the bearing should spin freely with the centre fixed.

If the noise was the only problem then you might get away with just a new bearing.

If you have a clutch alignment tool, then you can take off the pressure plate (green) and take ...

nissan one (jecs)is about $380 trade, same as a Rodeo one but they are twice the price..... but you can adapt any 'in tank' pump, like a VP/vr/vs commodore one if you have the time. just need to cut the bracket and solder the wires etc.. to make it fit.

I have both Carby and EFI, and the EFI uses 25% less than the carby. Carby 20L/100km EFI 15L/100km (at best), oh and both Auto also.

EFI always runs nicer than the carby, but expect to do EFI pump and Injectors at this age.

Go the EFI!

3.0 would be Jatco RE4R03A if its the same as earlier models, the 4.8 has the new 5-speed RE5R ??

And I dont think it is mated to a less powerful motor?, it is the auto transmission that is limiting the max towing capacity.

Rb30 auto's were not a factory option in GQ.

Rb30 manual boxes are iternally similar to VL turbo.

4.2 litre Auto trans are same as 300zx Twin Turbo, and VH45

You might be best to swap a Whole TB42 and auto.

Also the VL and TB42 autos require an Auto ECM to be wired up also!
