I put a new aftermarket viscous fan on the v8 rangie a couple of days ago, becasue when 4wding in the hils (not much airflow) or in the soft sand in high range she would overheat, but no probs otherwise, so i put a new one on and god does it suck some power and it is as noisy as hell, not too happy ...

I'm eally not too sure how much it would be worth, problem is, unless they're in rally good nick, they're not worh alot to start with, being a 3.5 it must be a fairly early one, and from what iv'e seen most people are after the 3.9, depending on the condition of the transfer case it could be worth ...

Most likely casue is panhard bushes, i've have done many on various 4WD's to overcome this very problem, if you check for play in your wheel bearings/swivels - if you get someone to put their foot on the brake for you and it goes away it is wheel bearings, if not its swivel hubs. So do your panhard ...

If it was me, and im a mechanic, i would buy a 5 door 2.5 v6 automatic vitara, unstopable 'almost' on the beach, easy to drive, plenty of room, and enough power to keep you out of trouble. Feroza's imho ar'nt the best of cars let alone 4wd's and you dont want a patrol for your first car, to thirsty ...

My 3.9V8 is more economical than a mates 4.2 carby and anothers 4.2 efi patrol, i dont know about the earlier ones as the fuel injection is not quite as advanced on the 3.5i's look around there are quite a fewrange rovers with LPG fitted, they're the ones to go for.

Make sure you're coolant temperature sensor has a good earth and the connection is clean and tight, i frequiently have to do this on my 3.9 as it reads wrong and throws the idle out all ove rthe place, also you can get what the call an air mass meter cleaner, similar to carby cleaner, but safe to ...
