Replace all vacuum hoses. Had the same trouble, a small hose about 8cm long that had become real hard was jumping off the manifold giving poor idle. Can buy it at repco $4 a metre.

Put a pair out of late baleno similar to the GTI swifts.
Paid $250 the pair.
Drivers side needed small mods on the outside rail, passagers none.

Had the same problem with mine 2 weeks ago. Replaced the two heater hoses then found the culprit was a small hose from the throttle body to the block above the alternator. Front to rear. The plan is to extend the canvas down 100mm or so after a cut down similiar to Dee's orange doors
