Re: LED Brake Lights - Residual Current?

Hey guys, thanks for all your suggestions.

Yep - I checked all joints & wiring, isolated each feed etc, even made a new earth back to chassis - no change.
Like Leeroy said, it must be a thing that some cars just do.

Fitting a 21w load resistor works perfectly and in this case removing the symptom ...

Re: LED Brake Lights - Residual Current?

Hi guys,

No brake controllers, nothing else.

It's just a Jap ute. When I installed the tray I cut the light wires before the plugs (so old tub was easy to install for new owner).

I did have problem with the horn recently. It came on all by itself, was a dodgey relay. Maybe this is something along ...

LED Brake Lights - Residual Current?

G'day.

Brake Lights are always on, but dim!

Much brighter when brake pedal is pushed, nothing to do with tail lights.

Have just swapped out old school taillight packs from trayback with new LED kits. It seems there is a small amount of current in the brake light circuit, even though the 'car is ...

MK Triton Brake Calipers GLS v GLX-R

Howdy gang.

Can anyone here today give any reason why a FRONT DRIVERS Brake Caliper from a 2005 GLX-R would not lawfully fit a 2002 GLS?
They both have the exact same wheels as standard, the only difference is the GLX-R has ABS.

I can't get a part locally, need to have it shipped so just trying to ...

Hi there,

Regarding 'something else', I had a bit of noise (odd clunk not directly related to road undulations etc) coming from the front end of my 2001 MK. I temporarily removed the swaybar and the noise disappeared completely. I replaced outer swaybar bushes which appeared quite worn and while ...

Squeaky Drums

What makes drum brakes emit a squeal - under light pressure only, not heavy braking?

I pulled the outer drums off and blew out a heap of brake dust - they still squeak but not as badly. Should I have roughed the pads up a bit?
(Plenty of material left)

Very rare size, especially in a mud pattern.
Price was great - about $225 ea I think.

It's the 'baffle factor' that counts. Shunt the sound waves around until they dissapate into nothing.

Regarding electrical reliabilty in general, the 98's were better than the 95,96 & 97's but the 99's on were much better again, due to input from Bosch / BMW. You still get the odd stupid problem though.

If the EAS Rangie Compressors are anything to go by then answer to filling tyres would be NO, not really.
They have a 10L (approx) reservoir, fine for pumping a bicycle tyre or running a locker provided you have a regulator of some sort (set between 80-105 PSI)
4WD Tyres - would take WAAAYYY too ...

Another consideration is the NOISE !!

If you do buy a regulator - buy a good one.
SMC have nice little in-line jobbies, about $50.
Good quality locking rings, accurate and they don't leak!

While you're there, pick-up some other bits like push-in T-pieces, gauges etc and see if you can get some spare line.
