Re: Atlas transfer adaptor

I did think about a 3rz but they are still quite heavy and I will still be in the same situation with finding an adapter. I went and had a chat with a local machinist and he was confident of making up a splined coupler and the adapter plate so hopefully things are looking up.

Re: Atlas transfer adaptor

I want to use the vitara motor as it's light and has a good 4 speed auto and it fits in the small chassis of the lj. I alrready have a sierra based buggy with a commo v6 in it but I want to try and loose some weight over the front axle and I will make up for the vit motor having less power with a ...

Atlas transfer adaptor

I have got my hands on an atlas2 transfer case for my new project and was wondering if anyone has tried to fit one to a vitara aw4 auto. I have searched on the advance adaptors website but there doesn't seem to be a listing for such an adaptor. The case has a 27 spline input with 32 spline outputs ...

Re: Short arms

Thanks rhett I wasn't sure how long your lowers were but I knew they were short and as for the steer hopefully 4wheel steer will help to counteract it a bit as well as having the lowers dead flat.

Short arms

Hi guy's I am part way through a new buggy build and I am setting out the front suspension and would like to know what length lower arms people are running. The buggy is based on a lj80 suzuki so space is limited but it looks like the front lower arms will end up 700mm long, will this enable me to ...

Re: 95 sierra V6 and Lux Diffs

He might have been refering to registering it as an icv or Individually constructed vehicle. Just an idea have you thought about putting the zook body onto the chassis of a vehicle that could legaly run the v6 eg.a swb patrol and that way you would get the diff and brake upgrades needed to pass ...

Re: 95 sierra V6 and Lux Diffs

I was discussing a future engine swap with an engineer today and he said the largest size that can be passed in a sierra is 3.4 litres and then only if it is naturally aspirated but that is still alot of motor for a little zook.

Feel free to check out my rig and hopefuly it will give you some insight on what you are taking on and what steve is saying is good advice. I have a commo v6 powered sierra but it is a comp rig and not a daily but if you would like to check mine out to get an idea of clearances of drivetrain components and how tight a fit the v6 is then you are welcome to check my zook out and I'm in bunbury.

Re: Power steering pumps for full hydro

Have you thought of going with a gear pump instead of a vane style pump that way you should be able to run a pump that is built to last at 2500psi.
I am converting my hydraulics to one of these pumps at the moment and may be able to source another if your interested.

I do realise that everything will break if you try hard enough it's just that I feel I have been let down by this product and that it hasn't lived up to my expectations. Like I have already said I am normaly a fairly sedate driver with some mechanical sympathy and are running very old hard tyres ...

That conferms what I was saying before that even if I use longfieds it isn't much of a strength increase over what I am already using but the warranty would be alot better than the current setup

Re: stronger than chromoly

The problem is that I'm not trying to break it I try to drive gently and prefer to crawl a hard secton of track than just rely on throttle. The zook runs 38x12.5 tsl swampers and weighs around 1650 kg and I'd like to change to a 40inch comp spec tyre but I'm worried things will just break more often ...

stronger than chromoly

Hi guy's I was wondering if there is anyway to strengthen a 60 series diff further than just fitting a set of 30 spline chromo axles and cv's. I recently broke a 30 spline cv inner star and sheared the stub axle without doing anything beyond what the axle should be capable of handling.
I am running ...

Re: remote/divorced transfer cases

I will have to have a look but I don. think there are any in my build thread on here but it is very simple to do basically the input flange on the mq transfer and the rear output flange on the 720 case are identical and simply bolt together with some mq tailshaft bolts.
