If you still have a wobble, I would suspect swivel pin bearings. If you have not replaced them in the last few years, do it and preload new ones correctly. Also check the tie rod ends by having someone rock the steering wheel while you hold the top and bottom of each end. Any vertical movement is ...

Well about a couple of years ago a D2 TD5 tried to drag me from the M2 tolls.
My chipped RRC 3.9 had 5 adults aboard and he was alone.

He kept up for about the first 15 metres then went backwards at an astonishing rate.

Yes, I made up a tool by making a T shape from 1inch square pine. Then the top of the T goes on the front flange of the sump. Jack up with a bottle jack or workshop jack. Undo the fan cowling first. Next time I do it I will cut off about 1/2 the thread as this means you do not have to lift so high ...

I suspect the extra efficiency of the ally rad more than makes up for the lack of a cowl, with a cowl I could get that time down even further. The only downside I can see with a tight fitting cowl is it might encourage mud buildup and make it more difficult to keep the rad clear ? Yes you probablyt ...

I hope your setup is not like the one above. To get full use of fans they must have a cowling that covers the whole radiator so that the whole of the radiator has air drawn through it not just the fans area. I had a Porsche 924Turbo that overheated at low speed with 2 fans on it. I bought an Porsche ...

I still cannot see any relationship btween cutting out, fans on etc. However cars do funny things if the earths are bad. I would next check and clean the battery earths, then look at the bunch of earths on the drivers floor near the ECU. The only relationship with the aircon and fan is that the ECU ...

You should really get a handle on what your mixtures are under load and at idle. One way is to hire dyno time or to buy an NGK wide band sensor. Petrol engines will tolerate a wide range of mixtures without much complaint. If theplugs are sooty it does suggest richness but most plugs will be sooty ...

It should not be a problem if teh alternator is on the RH. It's only wher ethe signal wire goes over the top of the alternator. So it's your ignition somewhere. BTW, check that you have a "LUCAS" rotor. Aftermarket ones have a bad but deserved reputation for shorts to the shaft. Even though the ...

That sounds pretty bizarre. The front fan is only on with aircon on or over about 100C. it is switched by the aircon relay or through the switch on the side of the thermostat. If it stays on with ign off maybe the aircon relay is stuffed or the switch on the thermostat , but this should have nothing ...

In my RRC its situated in the engine bay at the bottom LH side of the radiator in the cooler line. Its a wet sensor but no fluid came out when I changed mine. I paid $62.

I disagree that the 14CUX is unreliable. My 92 has never had a problem, and problems are restricted to sensors in most cases. Now Lucas alternators are another thing entirely. I did some research on this a while ago. AFAIK there is an adaptor for Small block to ZF. Small block is the same as LS1 except you leave out one bolt. 3.5s and 3.9s a basically identical except for the bore size of the 3.9. same heads, same bearings, only 2 bolt mains. As long as you buy one after say 1980 or so. 3.5s are more tolerant of being overheated as there is more meat around the sleeves. Depends if you want 11% more torque. I think Jeeps ...

The rattle will be the cam lobes and followers. These are the first wear point in a Rover engine. Even with perfect lubrication cams /chains /sprockets/and followers will be lucky to last over 160KKms and usually at 130KK. Don't let it go too long or the lobes break up and then score the oil pump ...

What sort of steering box and pump do you have? The 14CUX idle etc is calculated on a standard rover pump load.If you have a bigger one it could be the problem. In this case the fix would be to just increase the kerb idle a bit to compensate. The other trickier fix could be to rig a switch to the ...

All good stuff except the tacho is driven by the alternator, nothing to do with ign module.
If the tacho flickers the alternator is dying, which could of course also affect idle speed.
On cars other than LRs often the tach is driven by ign.

14CUX is supposed to "rev high then die down" On each shutdown the stepper winds out to maximum. On start up the ECU reads the RPM signal and drops steps out until idle stabilises at about 750RPM in neutral on a warm engine. Aircon on adds one step. VSS adds one step. I think cold start adds one ...

The 14CUX is prone to stalling as the stepper drops steps out on hot/warm start. It is a 14CUX characteristic. Sometimes this is caused by oil build up on the throttle blade dropping the "kerb idle", ie the idle with no stepper steps activated. So clean the oil residue off the throttle blade , and ...
