Re: 2 vehicles blowing smoke after a bog hole
Oil came out a bit black but not milky or contaminated. My engine is getting stripped down this week so hopefully we can find a direct cause for the symptoms. Even though I've been deeper before, I'd really like to know what happened here so it doesn't happen again!!

Re: Cooling a V8 lux
The VN in my MIddy always ran hot with the 75 series radiator. I would avoid 40 / 70 series radiators as they are narrow. I'm pretty sure a Lux will fit something wider. I ended up with a custom Rad from Aussie Desert Coolers. With my body lift, I was able to go much taller in the rad without risk ...

2 vehicles blowing smoke after a bog hole
I'm hoping someone can help with this... we have 2 vehicles displaying all the same symptoms after getting stuck in bog holes in Wombat State Forest the other week. Both of us have gone to our respective mechanics who have offered no conclusions. One vehicle is running a VN V8 with a snorkel, the ...

Sometimes its hard to see if the fuse has blown or not. If you can identify which fuse is from that circuit, pull it out, check it with a multimeter. Also, check the fuse holder for voltage (both sides) If you can find 12V at the holder and the fuse is fine, keep looking behind the dash. If there is ...

Custom Soft Top
Can anyone recommend somewhere to get a soft top made up for the Middy? Obviously there is nothing on the market so it would be a full custom job.
I'm in melbourne round the caulfield area but more than prepared to travel if the price and quality is right
Thanks

remember that once they are done, you'll need to re-paint / powder coat them too. I did mine but would have just bought them pre-done from Procomp except that they didn't clear the front brake calipers. If the procomp rims will clear the calipers on ur 60 then sell the rims u have and get these ones ...

I disconnected the IAC and it still hunted. The revs were higher but problem was still there. Had a look at some photocopies a mate gave me from the delco efi book and it says its in open loop (ie. o2 sensor has no input) when at idle That leaves MAP sensor TPS or manifold temp or speed sensor. I'm ...

The idle was rock solid until the other day. It started hunting between 600 - 1000 and now will drop to 400 and almost stall. The engine had a full dyno tune when it was installed so the map on the memcal has been modified to suit I'll start with the o2 sensor and see how it goes. Can anyone tell me ...

Idle Hunting on VN Commo V8
The problem is, when I start the engine, all is fine. It will initially rev around 1200rpm, then gradually settle. Usually, it would settle to 800rpm and stay there. Now it will drop to around 400, almost stall, then catch itself, rev up to about 1000rpm, then drop to 400etc. The engine is dual fuel ...

Hard to find parts (FJ73 Middy)
I'm looking to do a soft top conversion (or easily removable hard top) for the Middy. I've heard that some imports (possible bundeeras) had rear doors with removable glass but they are extremely rare. Would anyone know a starting point to source a set? The only other option I can think of is to chop ...

I'm up in Caloundra at the moment, mid-way through a bit of a road trip. (I'm from Melbourne) Thought I had covered all bases getting the vehicle serviced and inspected before I left but now I have a grinding noise coming from the ttransfer. It disappears when I take my foot right off the ...

As v8patrol said, check youre loom, and dont just pull on plugs, actually make sure you get pliers or wahtever in there and yank on every individual pin. I was caught out like this on my yamaha, the rec/reg wasnt charging, i measured for all the right voltages etc... found i needed a new rec/reg ...

I've just borrowed a 40L engel fridge from a friend to get me through a road trip I'm about to embark on. Problem is, it creates a very loud hum through the stereo when the compressor is running. Both the stereo and fridge are running off the second battery and wiring and earth are all good. Any ...

Battery Light on only under Acceleration
As abaove, my battery / charge light is coming on only under acceleration. Revving in neutral won't do it, neither will cruising. It happens on petrol and on gas. I've checked for loose wires that may get pulled by the engine twisting but no joy. Any suggestions what it might be? Engine is 5l VN V8 ...
