Re: 1993 - 80series manual locking hub conversion Q?

Different splines on cv end I think ifs is 27 and 80 series are 30. Easy way to find out, if he has a cv lying round take a drive flange and see if it fit. Shadow I have an 1993 awd 80 with free wheel conversion and don't need any spacers. Ok might be 94 they did the upgrade. I know the upgrade was ...

Cool Cheers man! Do you know if the F/W-Hub you used are from a late or early Hilux & if they were from a solid axle Lux or IFS? I want to buy new Aisin's but also want to make sure I get the correct ones first go! Yeh from what i'v researched it's the later ABS 80 series that have the longer CV ...

Re: Radiator upgrades

Increasing the Frontal surface area is always the best solution, but a 4 row cooler is still better than a 3 row cooler, it is a diminishing return as you suggest, but it still increases the air to copper surface area. The air exiting the radiator rarely reaches 60 degrees and even if its at ...

Re: Radiator upgrades

Alloy radiators arent all they are hyped up to be. The reason oem manufacturers are using alloy is because its cheaper. The reason most people put aftermarket alloy radiators in is for bling, or because they think it will be better than the copper core oem, but they are usually wrong. I would look ...

I've cut alot of alloy extrusings on a normal drop saw, just make sure blade is high tooth count (finishing or fixout blade) and go slow. Cladding extrusings have many shapes etc and ive never really had a problem. very accurate and only grabs if you try to cut too fast. You can get the specific ...

Re: Welding advice

The advantage of the jaycar 10amp to 15amp block, is that it has a 10amp breaker in the block. So if you trip it, you walk 2 metres and reset it. If you use a 10amp plug on your 15amp welder, or file the earth pin(this is what ive done lol), you _may_ trip the house breaker, and then its usually a ...

Re: top mount intercooler

The temperature isn't there to begin with. Water cools far better. The WTA post intercooler intake air temperature is the same temperature (with in a few degrees) of the water leaving the intercooler. This is with a good intercooler, this is not the case with some WTA units out there. Post air temp ...

Re: top mount intercooler

A core near twice as thick has far more restriction. The louvers design plays a part aswell. And the WTA is dumping far less heat = less stress on engines cooling system. This difference may not be as great above 80kph (maximum efficiency). But slower speeds with more load (load, slow in soft sand ...

Re: top mount intercooler

Actually no they don't. The WTA radiator is thinner with thermals - far less air drag. Then measure the air temps from the back of both (the air temp that's entering the engine radiator). The water is only 10-15' above ambient, so the air temp from the back of that rad is only going to be the same ...

A w2a intercooler still has a radiator in front, and is still dumping the same amount of heat there.

Removeable A pillar section and tie ins would be 100% legal and has been suggested in other threads. The reality is, you will either leave it at home most of ...

Using a three battery system can work very well if using one battery as a 12V cranking battery and two in series 24V as an auxiliary battery by using a Sterling DC/DC 122450 battery charger which charges from a 12V battery to a 24V battery with the same charging algorithms as a mains charger ...

The hose from intercooler up to the intake has popped off mine once, it has no power when it did!

Remove and check the condition of the two intercooler hoses. Sounds like one is split or something.

then fit a boost guage and you will know for cetain. Should hit about 15psi at max boost.
