Re: Mid Mount Winch....Whos got one??? any info???

I assume you've already moved the front diff forward to increase the approach angle and it's still not enough? That was the next mod I was going to make to the RedRat and it's a helluva lot easier than a midmount winch by the look of the pics (some tricky work and some hours gone into the pulley set...

I've got two super charge batteries that are the "dual purpose" type. Allegedly 105Ah. The 18 month old one is nearly dead (runs the 95L trailblaze for half a day) and the 13 month old one runs it for a day and a bit. These 'marine' style calcium batteries CAN last a long time if you only ...

Two and a quarter is what comes with the DTS (mitsubishi hairdryer) kit I fitted to my 2.8, so it is no doubt adequate.(the 2.8 is the limiting factor, not the exhaust). Having said that, I got an exhaust shop in Bundy to run a two and a half inch system with a couple mandrel bends and a 12 inch hot...

So you're saying I shouldn't give up the dream of actually being able to feel some acceleration in the rat. I've not heard of the separate wastegate pipe, this is to reduce backpressure in the exhaust manifold is it? The Denco shouldn't be a problem, there is only about 0.5 psi boost drop accross th...

The D4D donk would be the shizzle, ballsy down low and just keep pulling. How expensive would that job be? Whole lot of electronics if ya go for a swim though. hilux79 how on earth did you get 105hp (78kW) out of ya critter? That'd mean over 100kW at the flywheel which seems a little far fetched. I ...

Sell ya 2.8 and chuck in a V6 commo motor. I've got a 2.8 lux with DTS turbo, denco water to air intercooler, running 10psi and it'd just pull the skin off a custard. Basically, even if you doubled your power, two time sweet FA is still bugger all. If you want diesel reliability and the ability to r...

Go the rear, that's where most of your drive comes from when you're crawling up an obstacle. Front locker rarely ever gets used in my truck. (maybe I need to find some nastier tracks) Mates current model lux with zero flex is a new machine with rear locker fitted

After fitting the turbo to my 3L I found the only time heat caused any issues was low speed beach work. In these situations an air to air wouldn't achieve any cooling. I fitted a water to air unit and can still access oil filler and dipstick(which you would want to check between oil changes). The de...
