If you are going to fit an air freespool ie drum disconnect - Mal Leslie, Flamin Fab type the 8074 will be fine with a 6hp motor with new splined motor pinion gear to replace key type of old 2.5hp motor. The 8274 pull type free spool only disconnects pinion gear at motor. The rest of gear train ...

8024 does not have free spool, ie no pull leaver on top hat. Otherwise same strength. Just older.
