Re: Mickey Thompson SSS Winch Rd 1 - 22 to 24 March 2013

We have a new truck on the go and it won't be finished for a few months, so unfortunately it means we are out of this round. We will try to get up there on Saturday night to help marshall if we can.
Good luck to all the teams and I'm sure it will be as good a round as always.

Re: Mickey Thompson SSS Winch Rd2 3-5 August 2012

Great weekend. South East Queensland Photography have put up the first group of photos on Facebook. Main reason for this is to thank Stirlo, Jo, all the officials and all the competitors. As always a huge amount of work went into the stages, catering and running the weekend and it shows, it ran smoo...

Stirlo and Jo,
Lukas and Jim are back for Round 3. We'll get some forms and payment through in the next couple of weeks.
Looking forward to it as always and hopefully it'll be a big turnout for the weekend.

Re: Mickey Thompson SSS Winch Rd 2: 3-5 June

Thanks all, We had an unreal weekend and can't wait for Round 3. Big thanks to Stirlo and Jo and all the marshals who make the weekend happen and for keeping it efficient and relaxed. Also thanks to Clint, who weaved his magic with a paperclip and solder and kept our alternator going Friday night. I...

Re: Mickey Thompson SSS Winch Rd 2: 3-5 June

Here we go again !
Looking forward to this one, it would be good to get the same support as Round 1. There were some good trucks and a great spectator show.
We'll send some paperwork in this week, Jo.

Re: QLD Mickey Thompson SSS Winch Challenge RD 1 2011

As Jane said, it was one of the best turnouts for spectators and quality teams in the last few years. The spectators had unreal positions and it was well laid out. Thanks have to go to Stirlo and Jo for such a good series and comp. it's a lot of work but it certainly looks promising this year. We ha...

Talk to these guys about some of their gear. http://www.landwsportscommunications.com.au/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Their full duplex sets are not cheap and only available for long term hire at this stage but don't drop out like, b/tooth, are extremely clear and no one...

WE ARE LOSING AREAS TO DRIVE AT A FAST RATE !!!- don't think that the next person will look after it and allow us to lose another one. Show your support with a quick note to let council know that their claims are indirect and irrelevant. Logan Challenge was held there in 2009 and was the first time ...

We will be setting it up in the next month or so as we build the tray. The other reason for me hesitating to run the winch back through a pulley then forward is that extra 'point' permanently running that something can go wrong with, we are considering another option that can be changed fairly quick...

The only problem with this in our situation is we need to maintain line speed especially in a forward direction but if it is non comp work then it is a great idea.

Cookie_monsta, that was one of my concerns but I hoped by keeping the line of travel as straight as possible it would help. I was intending to use short lengths (600mm) but you raise a good point there chunderlicious, 100mm lengths will be easier to thread. Maybe if I did them in 200-400mm it may sp...

REAR MOUNTED HIGHMOUNT WINCH (plasma to front)

Hi All, I would like to mount a high mount winch in the tray of a dual cab comp GU and carry the line to the front of the truck. I can mount it at chassis height and to the left to keep the line fairly straight but the plasma will still need to change angle through a couple of 50mm tubes to get to t...

Thanks for the replys. I don't want airbags as it will be used in comps as well. Should I ask what sort of condition it's in Gimbo? :? The powers that be (ie the RTA and QT) obviously don't talk to each other as the genius' have sent me the paperwork in Brisbane to say it's ok to have a 2" body...

GU wagons without airbags ???? engineering without airbags??

I would like to do a fairly hardcore dual cab chop and would like to know if any of the early GU's were built without airbags. If any one has had any experience with putting a non airbag body on an airbag chassis and getting it all engineered legitimately your input as to process would be appreciate...

I have fitted the highmount to the GU. It is all a pretty tight fit, with about 10mm spare behind the winch. There is a 2 inch body lift in mine that may be all the difference between you hitting the air con fan or just having to trim the bottom corner off it. Basically we cut the existing winch mou...
